Does anything make sense anymore?
I feel as though my mind has been permanently warped by the past three years. NOTHING seems to make sense anymore. The people I work with and live near seem to all be zombies without an original thought.

Democracy by dictatorship

Perpetual war causes peace

Love others freedoms so much we have to kill a bunch of you

Leave No Child Behind = leave all children behind

Lies, manipulation and propaganda = good government

Okay. So cheer me up.

What makes sense in your life?

1. Add olive oil to the butter in the pan
and the butter don't burn.

That's about it, I'm with you.

3. Sometimes I feel this way
Even with people I like, I just tune them out sometimes when they talk about Iraq or politics. People seem to not care or seem brainwashed. I don't have a TV, get all my news online and from some print so I'm assuming people are getting the weird things they say from TV.

4. dude, it is like that for me this week, too
I am suddenly remembering the madness that was March 2003.

Wow, was that fucked up.

Buckle down for a rough winter, I am afraid. Hatriotism is easiest to conjure in the short small days of the winter.

5. Read an essay in a book about gay marriage
called "Evangelical Freedom".

Its main point is that you are only free when you are doing exactly what God wants.

6. I've felt like I have been living in a science fiction movie for
the last 3 years. Nothing makes sense. I am at the lowest point in my life because I see no hope for this country as long as these idiots are destroying it.

7. How it makes sense to me
It's part of what happens when the world runs out of resources.

Nobody's guaranteed a good life and we've had it pretty good up until now. Unbeknownst to me (prior to reading this forum), we come by our lifestyle unethically. This government manipulates other governments so our country can purchase their resources at unrealistic prices. To do so, the money goes to corrupt dictators and thus millions of people around the world are living under poor conditions. But that's OK as long as we can drive SUVs and pay Weight Watchers to help us get rid of excess pounds from eating too much.

So the way I look at it is that we've overplayed our hand, thanks to bush and cheney, and besides that, astrologically the jig is up anyway. We're in for an economic fall the likes of which have never been seen before.

One can only find this interesting if one divorces oneself from material things and the need for security. That's very hard to do. I would be lying if I said I was anywhere close. But I think our country is disintegrating and morphing into something highly unattractive. Fortunately for the world, we won't be able to afford any big wars because bush and cheney already siphoned out all money.

Cher

Seems a little questionable what with the God of War thing and all.

11. The world is totally insane.
All you can do is struggle to make change and peace wherever possible.

May sound nutty, but in the past three years, I have allowed myself to get closer to my pets, and it's been very comforting and centering. They will not tolerate bullshit, and they deal straight with you.

Reminds you of what's what.

Peace -- :toast:

12. I know what you are saying

It has turned into one crazy ride and a bad trip at that.

The problem is,our current govt. and he people who support it have bought into the belief that the end justifies the means. I have always believed that in a free society, the end can NEVER justify the means. The only place that kind of attitude can lead is straight to dictatorship.

*Bushco = No millionaire left behind
War for oil
Eroding civil liberties
Lies repeated over and over as truth
etc. etc. etc.......................

I don't know how to change it. We can shout the reality of it at the top of our lungs and the people that support this cabal will stick their fingers in their ears and go "la la la la" because they are afraid to hear the truth, then they will pull their fingers out between 12-3 each day so OxyMoron can spew his warped view into their brains, then they take their prozac and go back to the "la la la" routine.

... but, what's been going on in my life over-and-beyond the last 3 years only worsens the situation ... I just try to think that it can still be worse ... not much consolation nor much of a handle there ... but, I'll extend a hand, an ear, a shoulder ... I have been believing the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing for a long time now ... I feel like we're on a bus coming around a mountain without a driver ... what I believed to be community support groups seem to be in-name-only ... meanspiritedness of many is a way of life ... I'll withhold commenting on our medical and legal worlds ... the good ol'boys don't know how to design or do anything without adding more stress into our lives ... I dubbed the 90s, the Decade of Angst ... but, I may have been pre-mature ... press * to go back to the original menu ....

do you have a car?
wish I did

18. Yes.
Seek solace in the world of mathematics and the hard sciences, where the eternal verities are known and not really debated. E=mc², Π=3.141618...

These things, at least, make sense. The world of humans and their interactions as members of opposing groups is one of eternal and unchanging fucked-upness. It just seems a little better at some times than others. War, bigotry, violence, hatred, etc, etc, we shall have with us always (or until humanity evolves or dies out, anyway).
