That slimeball in the Oval Office apparently will officially support the Federal Marriage Amendment, which would permanently codify bigotry and hatred in the Consititution of the United States.

If I needed yet another reason to hate this amoral slimebucket (and the reasons are stacking up like logs next to a fireplace), this, personally, is the worst.

BREAKING NEWS: BUSH WILL SUPPORT ANTI-GAY CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT

ABC News has just reported that President Bush said today that he WILL
support adding an anti-gay amendment to the United States Constitution
if such an amendment is necessary to ban gay marriage. "If necessary,
I will support a constitutional amendment which would honor marriage
between a man and a woman, codify that," Bush reportedly told ABC's
Diane Sawyer today.

Some pundits are trying to give the president wiggle room because he
said "if necessary." That's a distinction that's hardly heartwarming.
If necessary, the President of the United States has announced that he
would support enshrining anti-gay bigotry in the great constitution
of our nation. The thought should sicken every American, and any
foreigner
who ever looked up to America as a beacon of hope in a troubled world.
To flippantly support desecrating the American constitution in order to
suck up to a bunch of evangelical anti-Christs. Have you no decency,
sir?

Winnie Stachelberg of the Human Rights Campaign, America's largest gay
civil rights organization, warned that Bush's amendment could eliminate
scores of civil rights protections for gays and lesbians:

"It could strip away any legal protection for millions of hard-
working, tax-paying Americans and their children, including the right
to Social Security survivor benefits, to the right to inherit a
partner's property without heavy tax penalties, even the right to visit
a loved one in the hospital. And any attempt to use this amendment to
score a few votes is a strategy sure to backfire and cost elected
officials their claims of compassionate conservativism."

Whether you're gay, straight, Democrat or Republican, if you have an
ounce of self-respect you will no longer support President Bush. Over
the past several months, scores of gay Republicans came forward and
said they would leave the Republican party if Bush supported this
hateful amendment. Now is the time for gay and gay-friendly Americans
to show who's side they're really on. As the president is so fond of
saying, you're either with us or against us.

I recommend everyone contact the President and the Republican party
national headquarters and let them know that it will be a cold day in
hell before you ever support them again. You might also like to ask
them why we need a constitutional amendment to protect us from the Vice
President's lesbian daughter.

Where does that phrase come from? I spent about an hour one day trying to find out but I've never met anybody who know's where the term 'log cabin repug' comes from.

5. Abraham Lincon

and Joshua Speed used to sleep in the same bed in order to save money. They slept in the same bed for a number of years before they took their own paths of life. There were a lot of gay jokes about Lincoln because he slept in the same bed with another male, but I assume he didn't really care. Lincoln was also married. They also were in close correspondence with each other for the rest of their natural lives.

Honestly, I don't think he was gay. I just thought he was secure in sexuality.

I don't know where the term log cabin came from, but I know what their symbol, Abraham Lincoln, represents.

7. Joshua Speed

Joshua Speed was Lincoln's lifelong friend. When Lincoln was desperately poor, Speed offered to put him up and yes, they slept in the same bed (a very common thing done back then-and homosexuality wasn't seen as a threat then). They were both single at the time, though both later married.

I think the Log Cabin appellation is referring to this more tolerant attitude toward gays that apparently was exhibited in the nineteeth century.

4. C'mon, are you REALLY surprised?

Look who is the base of the Republican party...far right evangelical "christians" who speak out of both sides of their mouths. Out of one side they decry the so called gay lifestyle of promescuity and out of the other side they oppose giving gays and lesbians the same CIVIL rights regarding marriage.

One of THE wedge issues the pugs are going to use in the 2004 election is opposition to gay marriage. They can't use "welfare" since Clinton and the Dems fulfilled the pug dream of doing away with welfare as we know it.

It isn't chic, even in pug circles, to openly hate black people so the only subgroup there is to hate openly (and with pugs hate sells) are gays and lesbians.

8. I know some of it is political.

Essentially, Bush is kneeling down and planting a big wet one on Jerry Falwell's fat, pasty ass. Bush needs the evangelical vote badly next year. And boy, nothing like the red meat of bigotry to get those people out to the polls. Some fundementalists have openly said that gay marriage is more important than Roe v Wade or abortion.

I shouldn't, I suppose, be surprised at Bush's announcement. But...man, this is harsh. It's a complete sea change...from Clinton, who despite some missteps (I know, DOMA and DADT), listened to the gay community. And actually recognized that we are Americans...and that we deserve a place at the table, metaphorically speaking. To Bush...who openly panders to the haters in this country.

I wish I could talk to people like Andrew Sullivan...a gay man who's a supporter of Bush...and ask Sullivan how he likes his President now.

This is just plain wrong. I don't want SPECIAL RIGHTS, as the fundementalist haters would put it. I don't want to be hated. And this proposed amendment would enshrine hatred into one of our most treasured, sacred documents. And that just hurts.

of heterosexual marriages being "honored" by the Repukes with heavy divorce rates (heaviest among evangelical Christians), physical abuse, irregular enforcement of child support payments, leaving families in poverty, etc.

If * wants to honor marriage, there are a number of inequities they can work on fixing before attacking a single group for no good reason outside of politics.

Two gay guys live two doors north of my dad. Whether their actually married or not I don't know and is none of my business unless they want to tell me.

Those two guys were the best thing to happen to that house and neighborhood. The house they bought needed everything done to it,pretty run down to say the least,after a couple of years it looks brand new.

My dad goes over and talks to them on occasion,they watch out somewhat for him--he's 80 now. NO ONE on that block feels threatened by these guys.

Insanity,but if Bush gets elected wait and see whats in store.
