4. Pavarotti is the greatest tenor of the recording era. Period.

Strangely, though, Domingo is probably the greatest opera singer of the recording era, having mastered over 100 roles.

Being a Tenor (capital T) is about more than just opera (singing & acting.)

Whatever it is, Pavarotti had it in spades.

6. Three Tenors - Bah!

Instead of the Three Tenors (who in my opinion have been milking their success for far to long) try the Three Mo' Tenors. The group is comprised of three African-American tenors who blow the original Three Tenors out of the water. They range from opera (Nessum Dorma and Ah! Mes Amis are spectacular) to jazz, blues (the arrangement of Twisted alone is worth the price of the CD), and showtunes.
