straight to see ROTK. That is freakin ridiculous. Why not mix in an intermission for crying out loud? I can remember as a child getting dragged to see Fiddler on the Roof (6 years old, wanted to see Poseidon Adventure), and I distinctly recall an intermission then. The theatres could have an intermission, and run those bullkrap commercials that we're all subjected to for ten minutes. Man.. if I end up being forced to go see this, I'm bringing an empty Gatorade bottle in there with me, if you catch my drift!

things that I like to do for 3 hours and 20 minutes.

Cheers

5. The dark haired girl was on Letterman the other night
and she said that they would probably release a dvd with all of the movies .. Then you can watch it at your leisure:)

I have not seen any of the movies.. Just not interested in "fantastical" stuff :)

11. It's a lot more than just fantasy
Tolkein wanted to create a mythos for the Brits..so he wrote this series. It is stunning in scope and scale, and very insightful into "what we as humans need" in our grand stories of long-lost heroic times.

8. There's no intermission!??
I'm planning to see ROTK this week (when I can drag hubby there) but I assumed there'd be a break somewhere in the movie. I don't want to miss a single second, but when you gotta go, you gotta go. Allowing no intermission is cruel.

9. Saw it last night, and drank the whole MegaCoke...
...I was ready to pop at the end, but I made it. Boy, that movie is good!

But an intermission would have been nice. The only reason that they don't do that is that they already have to start showing the movie at 10:30 am to get three showings into a day. Most movies are two hours and you can get four or five showings in a day - more showings, more box office.

That's a real measure of the success of the LOTR movies, by the way. They are making stellar box office off of a maximum three showings a day. Hollywood say Wha?
