WOWSERS! Just saw Return Of The King! (No spoilers)
They're right-- it IS the best of the three! Although there are some obvious gaps which will no doubt be filled in when the extended DVD is released, the story otherwise follows the book even more closely than I had inticipated.

Nonstop action, incredible battles, and a growing into final maturity of all the characters-- this and more marks the end of the Trilogy as a definite winner.

I've waited my entire adult life for this story to be told properly on film, and IMHO it's finally happened with a vengance. Gigantic kudos to all those wonderful folk involved in bringing this magnificent tale so fully to life, and my personal thanks and gratitude for a job very well done. It was well worth the thirty year wait.

Frodo lives!

incredible. I don't know if God has seen this movie yet, but I think Jackson just bought his way to heaven with this trilogy.

3. Same Here
Man, you just know the New Line guys got major chubbies when they saw the first screening.

This movie is so huge it would be Texas if Texas weren't so fucked up.

Minor spoiler:

Did you notice the snot that got left on Frodo's cape near the very end? I died. (forgive me, I got 20 minutes of sleep last night.)

12. =) You Will Understand
When you go see it. It's just so HUGE. And I saw it on the big mofo widescreen.

I'm still absorbing it.

I am a major fan of the books, too, read them every year. After seeing this movie, I've forgiven PJ for all the deviations in TTT.

We give it two big thumbs up :thumbsup: :thumbsup: and one of the two thumbs comes from a Tolkien fanatic (me) that has read the trilogy 30+ times.

11. it was awesome...
there were several points in the movie where people were clapping, cheering and whistling.

The payoff was definitely worth the build up.
