I give up! I'm staying out of the GD Forum
I wonder if people act the same way in person as they do online?

I have many friends who have a different choice for Presidential candidate than I do. We get along fine! Why is there so much nastiness in GD? Yes, I know this is not indicative of the way most people act but still... it's sad.

I'll stick around here with you guys! Hide me. :)

3. Taking your first question as non-rhetorical
I wonder if people act the same way in person as they do online?

Some do; most do not. People often forget that the rules of social conduct and basic courtesy are meant to apply all the time, not just when you think you can get away with exhibiting asshole-like behavior.

The most arrogant online bullies usually turn out to be pussies if they can muster the courage to actually meet someone face-to-face. Many naively hide behind the perceived anonymity of Internet forums, when in reality anyone can find out anyone else's IRL name, address, phone number, etc. if they really want to.

4. true
I agree. I say until later in the campaign we should just not trust the entire lot of candidates.

5. Please stay with it, MAINEDEM...
You've got WAY TOO MANY GOOD POINTS not to let others in the GD Forum see...after all, even the most hard-core immature supporters of a candidate may eventually realize it's time to give up on the "Dean Sucks/Kerry Sucks" name-calling...especially if they have a mature, intelligent example of an alternate behavior right there for them to read!:D

B-)

7. Come on Main Dem there have been a couple of good threads lately
The thread on the welfare state was incredible.

The thread on dirty word ban was fun as well and heated though I admit. :-)

The Socialism thread a couple of days ago was intense and also entertaining.

You just got to pick your threads and ignore all hating between the Clarkies and the Deanies.
