1. I'd say
Perception defines reality, but not that one is more important than the other.

3. Indeed
In the liberal arts, perception is more important. But in matters of physics, reality is the winner.

9. Is it?
I thought the whole idea behind quantum physics is that the smallest things that we're trying to see are changed by the light it takes to see them.

11. A Perception of Reality
Is unfortunately a Reality.

Science is the effort to remove the human effect in seeking a type of reality.

5. More true than ever in Imperial Amerika
(though it was true during the Last Days of the Old Republic, also, just not as odious, shamelessly, grotesquely obvious).

That perception is more important than reality has always been partially true, but the main goal of Orwellian Propaganda, inculding the Busheviks' use of what I like to call Goebbels v2.0, is designed to create an absolute and 100% divorce from reality through language twisting, Party-Loyal Sub-Media, propaganda mills, and infiltration/parasitization of legitimate sources of information.

That the move "The Matrix" came out in 1999 is no coincidence. It was an idea who's time has come, surrounded as we were then and are doubly so now by a Sovietstyle infrastsructure of Bushevik lies, fraud, fabrications, and half-truths...all gleefully trumpeted by grinning pundits who don't even make the pretense that they are journalists in the old sense.

So that's the long answer. The short answer is that, for Totalitarian Societies like Nazi Germany, Soviet Russia, Marcos' Phillipines, Amin's Uganda, and of course Imperial Amerika which still isn't finsihed transforming into Bushevik Paradise and thus still resembled the Free World which it so recently left, ideally there is no reality, only managed perceptions trumpeted from Propaganda Infrastructures.

8. True, with a qualifier.
Really I think the answer is neither true nor false. I think that reality and perception create one another nearly equally. However, I said true, because perception is sopmething that we can change, with relative ease as long as we decide to do it. I also think that one of the most important lessons people can learn, especially people here at DU, is that "We;re toast" and "Candidate X can never win" and "We're too far left for the rest of the country." helps to create that reality. If you don't want those things to be true, stop feeding those things!

Also, check my sig line.

13. Should be restated as...
Is Perception more important than truth. Most people make their decisions on what they perceive to be the truth, regardless of what the facts say about it.

14. I'm kicking this...
...because I think this is a really important quetion and people need to realize how much damage they do when they contribute to the perception that our candidates are weak and that mainstream America isn't ready for us.
