My grandparents had a swing also, made by my Grandfather.

I have a cottage style house, old and solid.

We never had a swing until about two years ago. Then we got two and left them both with the house we sold. This one is hand made by some Amish people who live nearby. We also ordered a gazebo from them and it will have a bigger swing in it. :bounce:

My old house was built in 1930, by the owner.

The only bad part is when I had the house raised I found out there wasn't enough blocks and floor beams, so I had extra added.


And it was not up to code, but that wasn't problem.

I can tell you people in 1930 did not have closets and had one wall outlet per room.

The sad thing is many of the old houses like mine are being removed or destroyed for crap townhouses that will not last 10 years.

My grandpa used to make things, too, but I don't have anything he made. :( Harleydad and I made some toys and things for the kids that they won't let us give away. Now my grandson plays with them. He calls the truck we made for his mom "Mommie's truck." :loveya:

We used to live in a house that was built in 1940. It was SOLID. They sure don't make them like that anymore. Yeah, it was a little short on closet space, but none of us are clothes horses. I would get lost in some of these walk-in closets that are the size of a bedroom.

I made a closet in my room with closet poles, two levels holds all my clothes.

My neighbor knew the family that lived here, played with their little girl.

She said working people just used hooks and nails to hang their clothes, and they didn't have many.

People had ice boxes, a few lamps and maybe a radio.

Simple living.

My grandma told me she only had two dresses -- one for every day and one for Sunday. Yikes! I have to have clean clothes every day, even if they're not very fashionable.

setting for your new swing Airmensmom! And soon to get a gazebo? How lucky you and harleydad are. It looks so peaceful there. I would sit on that swing with a good book and gently swing back and forth. And in the fall, I'd be out there with a blanket wrapped around me, just so I could stay in that peaceful setting as long as I could. *sigh*
