4. I'm not sure on what grounds
Other than that they annoy me greatly, and with the $$$ they charge for tix and food, they shouldn't need to run commercials.

2. I'm with you............
in any class action suit. I HATE to pay $10 to be held hostage while a seemingly endless stream of bullshit is flickered in front of me. I've seriously considered entering the theater 1/2 hour later than the listed show time, just to avoid all that crap. Sign me up!

3. OMG
I have seen the SAME F***ING COMMERCIALS for WEEKS!! I go to one or two movies a week and see the same commercials week after week. I particularly despise the one with the guy riding the car like it was a bronco - it's for Levi jeans and THE GUY DOESN'T HAVE AN ASS.

The "Deluxe" one does crack me up though. :D

5. What's Next....
Animated banner ads at the bottom of the screen?
Ticker-tape crawlers?
So-called "intermissions" with commercials?

8. Pre-movie commercials are old news in Europe
As long as I remember a visit to the cinema begins with a solid 45 minutes of (sometimes very good) commercials.

So far nothing worse than that has shown up - I'm positive that it'll stay that way.

12. I had the same feeling last week.
Rarely go to movies, but wanted to see "Master and Commander" since I'd read some of the books.
Had to sit through about 30 minutes of commercials. Mostly real estate firms and coming attractions.
I hate the commercials on DVDs and VHSs too. Always fast forward to the feature.

13. There was a guy that sued, or is suing, recently
for False Advertising.

His beef was that the advertisements the movie theaters ran said that the movie would start at 7:30.

Only, the movie didn't start at 7:30. It started at 8:00 b/c there were 30 minutes worth of commercials.

I don't think he's gone to court yet, but he is suing at least one major movie theater chain for false advertising....

16. I was reading somewhere that the average studio film costs...
$40 million.

That's why you have commericals before the movies. So the studios can recoup some of the costs.

18. I'm pretty sure its the theater owners who are profiting from the ads-
not the studios.

17. Film exhibitors are having a hell of a time right now-
Many are considering trying to book out their venues for other events- even corporate teleconferencing - to try and make ends meet. I hate those damn commercials too, but I bet if a law made them suddenly illegal, many Cineplexes would have to shut down.

Crazy, I know, but true.

19. Just call the theater...
If I call my local theater and ask them how long the commericals are and what time does the movie actually start, they always tell me. It might not work everywhere but I've got a good thing going.

22. As long as they list the actual time the movie starts, I'm happy
I don't care if I get there ten minutes early, and then sit through ten minutes of commercials before the movie.

But I'm pissed if I sit through ten minutes of commercials AFTER the listed showtime.

23. I went to see Bad Santa a few weeks ago...
...and the theatre showed 15 FUCKING COMMERCIALS (I counted) before ANOTHER 15 MINUTES of previews.

I was contemplating taking my brother with me and walking out of the damn place.
