Can anyone help me identify a band based on these clues?
I saw this band at the end of a TV show months ago, and forgot to make a note of their name so I could look them up later. Now that I try to look them up, I can't find them.

I live in the Houston area, and this was on a local show, but they could have been a band passing through town.

After googling lots of band descriptors, I would call them "psychadelic latin hard rock."

The lead guitarist (who may also have been vocalist) did a Hendrix-esque, but Latin flavored guitar solo. It was amazing!

He is a skinny little guy with a BIG afro.

I have been googling Latino rock bands for hours now, and have found none who resembled him/them. If this sounds familiar to anyone, please let me know!

Gracias!

36. Hmmmm... I don't think so.... and BTW, what the hell is "Knackelflerg"???
Maybe he made up that word while smoking pot?LOL! I never knew he had a song called "The Pot Smoker's Song!"

La la la
Pot, pot gimme some pot
Forget what you are,
You can be what you're not
High, high I wanna get high
You never give it up
If you give it a try...
La la la la
(teenage vocals)
La la la
Pot, pot gimme some pot
Forget what you are,
You can be what you're not
Do, do take a family cruise
You with your grass,
Mom and Dad with their booze
Ooo ooo
La la la la
(teenage vocals)
La la la
Pot, pot gimme some pot
Forget what you are
You can be what you're not
Tough, tough the world is so tough
And when it gets harder,
You can try stuff ,uh uh
(teenage vocals)
La la la
Pot, pot gimme some pot
Forget what you are,
You can be what you're not
Hip, hip you wanna be hip
You're no one at all
If you don't take a trip

Pot pot gimme some pot
Forget what you are,
You can be what you're not
Hip, hip you wanna be hip
You're no one at all
If you don't take a trip

8. I have heard them before....
but this was a live recording of a song I didn't know, so it could be! I'll have to look up some pics to see if it was them. The song I know by Mars Volta didn't sound Latino though, but I am only familiar with one song by them.

Thanks, I will check it out!

9. A lot of their music has strong latin influences...
Cedric and Omar are both of Mexican descent. And they both have afros. If it's them or not, they're still worth checking out.

dance beats. Very tight arrangement also.

Frusciante played all of the guitar on TMV's new album so that Omar could sit back and produce objectively.

as like a Latino version of Wolf Mother. I like wolf Mother, but these guys had a heavy Latino sound to their rock.

Thanks:-)

but they look cool! I'll bookmark this to check out these bands later! The thing is, I don't know if it was a lesser-known band or not... it was a band *I* didn't know, but it was closing out the show, so I didn't even get to hear any discussion of who they were.

She was my Latino Rock concert buddy for a few years, but she moved away. Now I have to go alone, because nunca de mis amigas gringas estan interesadas!

22. It wasn't on the radio...
It was on a low-budget looking show on either the WB or one of those similar local affiliates in Houston. Since it was a low-budget show, I figured it waas probably a local show. We get a lot of big Latino acts coming through this way though, so it could be a local band, or a major band passing through giving some time to a local station.

19. Singing in English or Spanish?
Del Castillo does both (they are from Austin). The lead singer is skinny but I don't remember any afros. And the music wasn't really pyschedelic, more like Latin-flavored rock.

Also there is a Mexican rock band called Mana.

24. Judging by the pic, it could be.
I can't listen online with this computer, so I will have to try tomorrow. The song I know by them doesn't sound Latino, but since now I hear they do have a lot of that influence, it could have just been a song I didn't know by them, and I hadn't known what they looked like at the time, so I wouldn't have recognized them.

I don't know about the psychedelic hard rock part - they're self described as "salsa" - but when I heard them I'd say they were more than that.

I am not a big fan of hip-hop in it's pure style, but when it involves mixing styles of music, I like it.

Yo know, I am SO glad I decided to post this topic, because from what I read, I am sure I will have found several new bands that will be in my CD collection soon! Thanks for your contributions!

37. Well, it **HAD** to be Neil Diamond, then . ..
if he did the Pot Smokers Song and Knackelflerg, unless it was some other fella doing a set of "The Worst of Neil Diamond." He is one of my favorites of all time, but them two songs I don't think he'd be re-gurgitating all these years later.

Knackleflerg
that little word
it says what you mean to me you bein' awfully fine
Knackleflerg
that tiny word
------------------- and you're only mine . . . .
barf!
