12. I grew up on reruns of DVD and Andy Griffith
Great shows. Seems just today I was talking with someone at work about MTM. She was in her, what, mid-20's when she started on DVD? She had been a dancer (and a singer) somewhere, I think.

28. Good God!
You are, indeed, a very sick mind. Three's Company? What the hell are you thinking -- only a freak could possibly like that show!

And what do you think? Mr. Furley or Roper? Don Knotts, IMHO, was just not very funny in that show, at least not compared to Roper, who had that wonderful interaction with his wife, as opposed to the over-the-top "swinger" act of Furley -- funny as a guest appearance, not as a weekly character. Knotts' talents werwe wasted on anything other than the Mayberry-milieu.

39. Roper's Furley!
The Ropers made that show, definitely.

But I kinda liked the goofy, incongruent Mr. Furley. Don Knotts is probably why the show managed to continue without Suzanne Somers' presence. Okay, the show was an emsemble piece, but Chrissy was a far better foil for Jack than Janet was and Somers' did a great acting job at playing a ditz. She deserved the raise she was trying to get. Of course, ABC humiliated then fired her and then put in Chrissy's sister, Cindy - another ditz. Ably played, but she left quickly and then the non-stop sequence of replacement characters with no character and less acting ability came in. The show just wasn't the same, no matter how hard John Ritter tried. And without even Janet (aka when the series became "Three's A Crowd"), the show whithered away totally.

30. If Britcoms are included,
Fawlty Towers is easily number two, if not tied for number one. The twelve episodes of that program contain more comedy than most American shows that run for years.

31. picks and pans
My favorites --

1. A British show from the early 80s whose name I've forgotten, about a rabid right wing retired military guy who starts his own terrorist cell to take over the British government. Best writing EVER, and would be fresh today.
2. Fawlty Towers (I'd love to have Monty Python's Flying Circus on the list but that's not a situation comedy)
3. either/both of the Newharts
4. All in the Family
5. M*A*S*H

The worst --
1. Arli$$. Not the least bit funny. Horribly acted, especially the Asian woman... and Robert Wuhl is just one of those people who you want to break his nose on general principle. Can't understand why this one lasted so long.
2. Married With Children. Same one or two jokes, over and over, season after season. Yawn.
3. Seinfeld. Most overrated show, ever. I particularly loathe Kramer.
4. Cheers. I must be a contrarian or something. Everyone else raves about something, I hate it...
