Try to go up three times.

The first time you're all excited because you're going to jump out of an airplane.
The second time you're scared shitless because you're going to jump out of an airplane.
The third time is when it's actually fun.

I made a couple hundred jumps when I was in the Army. It is one of those things I really missed. I didn't even know airplanes landed until I was in my thirties. I've jumped out of more than I ever landed in. Relax and enjoy the jump MsKandse!

8. I talked to one of the ladies at the hangar today...

And asked her, "So, if some unknown reason, I freak out and decide not to jump at the last minute, can I back out?" She said, "Sure..but if you're already on the plane, your instructor will probably jump out without you. These guys prefer to jump than land."

9. I know how they feel

I used to jump several times a month. I didn't care if I was the only one or not. The best jump was over Norway in the middle of the night. I landed in the snow and went through some farmers hog pig. The whole family came out and dragged me into their living quarters. I stunk like pig shit and they acted like that was normal. We all had a great time. We sang songs and had a big meal. The next day I called the 82nd Airborne and told them to come pick me up. Our whole stick missed the LZ by about 50 miles. A night jump is pretty scary because you don't know where the ground is until you hit it.

11. Been there, done that. You will love it.

My first jump went perfectly. After 6 jumps, I decided it was a lot safer to stay in the plane and learn to fly it.
