I'm done with finals!!!
I'm so glad the sem's over...it went surprisingly well inspite of having spent many hours on this board, when i shoulda been studying...

I hope everyone else's finals went well...and i hope everyone has a great holiday season before the work starts up again in a few weeks...

4. It's a great relief, isn't it?
Now there's just the anxiousness while you wait for the grades... :scared:

5. the wait wasn't too long...
fortunately...I did reasonably well (my lkowest grade was a B), considering i had stopped attending most of my lectures at one point (literally to spend time on this board...it was like an obsession)...

Then around the last three weeks of classes...i became frightened...and got my ass together...i love this board, but realized that i simply didn't have that kinda time to spend here...plus i realized i could spend 24 hra a day on this board after finals :-)

7. yeah, the calls have already started coming in
As a teacher, I'm glad the semester's over, too. I have a whole five weeks before I have to go back and I'm looking forward to the break.

First call tonight was from a student wailing about her "C." She's damn lucky I didn't fail her because she produced a 12-page paper out of the blue with no rough drafts. We teachers become very suspicious when we do not see a paper "evolve." Then when I questioned her
"Works Cited" section, she failed to produce evidence that she had obtained the materials from the university library.

Next one is an e-mail from some little nitpicker who wants to quibble over his "B" instead of the expected "B+." Wants me to produce all the grades for his papers. Blow, buddy. Semester's over and the reason you got the B instead of the B+ is because you sat in the back of my class and conferred with your friends instead of contributing to the class as a whole. The syllabus says I'm entitled to do it and I will do it.

Next up, the little cheater whose mother has been calling the department all semester, complaining about all the F's she's received. Student has shown up for exactly half the classes and the ones she did show up for, she was late. In the end, her mother wrote the essays (we know that) and she gets a "D." She only gets the "D" because we can't prove it. Now we know what a cheater she is and we'll be watching her carefully in her next clases.

9. I developed a sureproof system to avoid disappointment with grades.
I simply expect to make an F on everything. When I make something better (I usually do), I'm pleasantly surprised.

Perhaps I should name it the Dubya system.

8. Do you attend E-Z University?
...considering i had stopped attending most of my lectures at one point

I gave out Fs to two people who quit attending. They did not do their final projects (a speech and a major research paper) so I had no choice.

10. I've coasted through plenty of classes,
but I turned in the assignments so I got away with it. I would say it depends on the professor and the difficulty of the course.

11. Hooray!
Good for you. My daughter finished Monday and she's soooooo releived as well.
Take some time off, kick back, relax, get back on the human track (to quote Leon Russel).
