I hate my neighbors
I wish I could move. These assholes play their music loud and have the fucking nerve to call the cops on me whenever I slam a door or yell at the cat. Fuckers. Two big cops just left here. They came inside (I guess they thought someone else was here- nosy assholes-the neighbors I mean). Scared the crap out of me. I have to get out of this hellhole.

3. That'll teach me to yell at the cat
I guess I should just learn to shut up. Now I am walking on eggshells all the time wondering when the next time will be that the cops knock on my door.

2. Why are you slamming doors and yelling at cats?
That is bizarre, if you ask me. I can understand playing loud music. I love loud music.

4. Trying to get the cat to come inside
It didn't work obviously.

The door thing was just an accident; had my hands full and kicked it shut with my foot. Too hard obviously. But it's shuch shit really- they walk across the floor upstairs like a thundering herd of elephants.

5. is this an apartment, or townhome....
people have to realize there will be some sort of nosie element. I lived next door to my landlord for several years, I heard everyhting that went on over there, and I'm sure they heard everything that went on with us. If they coughed at night, it sounded like they were in our room. You just get use to it. The police should explain this to them. One night of a door slamming and some yelling is nothing, really.

7. I am going to try to ignore them and do my best not to do anything
to bring it on again.

It is an apartment and I never had any trouble until they moved in.

9. maybe they should move out...
they aren't use to living in an apartment, and fail to realize when they make noise just like everyone else does. You shouldn't have to live walking on eggshells. Can you talk to the landlord about it? good luck to you.

18. one accidental door slam is not a reason for them to call the police.....
but you hear loud music consistently......then you call.

People like your neighbours are hypocrites.

25. to be fair, it isn't that loud
And it isn't late at night (usually). It is not wall-shaking or anything. I have certainly been subjected to worse.

6. I used to have neighbors like that....
when we used to live in an apartment. My downstairs neighbors would play their music so loud that it would actually cause my pictures on the wall to tilt. However, if I sneezed really loud they would call the cops on me. I hated those
bastards. I empathize with you. We now live in a house in the boonies. NO neighbors!!!!!

8. That's what I want
no neighbors or at least ones more than a few inches away. Won't happen anytime soon. I'll have to be more careful and maybe start complaining about them.

10. Have you ever formally introduced yourself?
People don't behave like assholes toward their friends whether or not they're assholes toward strangers. If you haven't had coffee or cocktails, you should try that before you start playing their game. It's not about the noise; it's about pride. Rational or not, for good reason or silly reason, they likely want some sort of validation. So the burden to act mature rests with you. What I'd do, go down, and profusely apologize for disturbing them, you didn't know, you didn't mean to, you wouldn't if you'd known yada yada yada. Offer your number and beg them to call if ever you're making too much noise or they're trying to sleep late. You're sorry if they felt like they had to call the cops. It doesn't have to be sincere to set the bar for decent behavior and leave the ball in their court. If it works, you controlled the situation and they think they did. Everybody's a winner. If that doesn't guilt them into decent behavior or if you've already tried friendliness and accommodation, document EVERYTHING, but don't go tit for tat. Buy some ear plugs and figure out how remove their power to bother you.

I hate hypocrites....everything they do is okay but then they worry about everybody else.....

may I ask, are you a male or female? Do they seem like problem people who are just going to try to blame you or focus on you for all their problems?

I don't know...... :(

Edit: checked your profile. Here's a suggestion, maybe somebody in that apartment is getting back at you. You're a cute gal, and somebody in that apartment is jealous of you?
Have you met these people or seem them before?

26. I have met the guy
He introduced himself to me. Seemed nice enough. I have not met his wife. I think he is a cop too. Or at least I have seen a guy in uniform that looked a lot like him. But I am bad at remembering faces so he might not be.

32. Some thoughts...
People have been known to be hounded out of their apartments by neighbors who want that apartment for their friends to move into.
Don't let the cops into your apartment at all.
Just because someone wears a uniform and a badge does not make him an angel.
Listen to your stereo with headphones.

27. I let them inside
They seemed concerned that there was fighting or something going on. But no one else was here. When people complain about stereo noise, it is usually just one cop (who lives in the complex) who tells you to turn down the radio or whatever. This time there were two.
