I just put my 2nd person ever on my ignore list
The first person had the user name LLR4PREZ, which stands for Lyndon LaRouche. He's since been tombstoned.

How often do others here use the ignore feature. BTW, if I'm on your ignore list, please don't answer me :eyes:

1. I use it sparingly
I've noticed plenty of people who put people, including me, on ignore simply for disagreement. I won't put someone on ignore just for disagreeing with me. They need to actively show irrationality mixed with a bit of assholishness. For instance, if someone disagrees with me, but can't formulate a counter argument and simply resorts to poor logic, or specious reasoning, while getting personal...then the chances are that I'll ignore them.

Or if they're an obvious troll. I know they'll get tombstoned, but I just alert and ignore and move on.

2. I used it once
then became so comsumed with curiosity as to what that poster was saying that I took him/her off of ignore.

I don't even remember who it was anymore. :P

17. I've done that, too
But I let the person think s/he was still on ignore. S/he ranted and raved about me for several posts.

Jerk.

9. I have used it
and then decided that it often didn't make sense when I was in a thread and there were answers from an ignore person, and it made it so frustrating that I would unhide them again.

10. We've been here about the same amount of time.
I've only put one person on 'ignore'. His account is still active, but he hasn't posted in about a year.
There's a second that is getting close, mostly due to bullying.

15. No, I have been here longer than you. (HA! I win!)
I don't know why my profile says I joined in 2002. I started posting in mid 2001. I remember cause I kept nearly getting caught by my boss at that time.

Actually, the Admin put this person on permanent ignore for me. The person has since been banned though.

Just too curious, I suppose. Probably the same
sort of 'curiosity' that makes folks gawk at
traffic accidents.

18. I haven't used it, and don't think I will
When I say something stupid that gets a response that makes me angry, I hope it causes me to think a little bit about my viewpoint. If I decide after a while that I was wrong, then I accept it. If I decide later that I was probably right, then I just accept that too.

22. i don't have any one on ignore.
and the other day i was worrying -- cause i've been here for a while -- and i suddenly realized that i often don't pay attention any more to who i have knock down drag outs with.

so that got me to wondering -- since i am quite thorny sometimes -- do i respond nicely to people who i have just gone hammer and tong with -- and don't know that i should hate them?

in fact you could be one of them -- and i have no idea.

26. I've only put 1 person on ignore in 3+ years,...
...and I think it was an accident. When I saw I actually HAD someone on ignore, I couldn't figure out WHY.

In all the time I've been here, I've been in exactly ONE flame war. I didn't even consider putting that person on ignore. I've seen very little of this individual person posting since but I think that he/she is still here. This is not one of my favorite people in our community, but I don't do ignore as a rule. I can ignore someone without making it an official act. Certain subject topics I will avoid like the PLAGUE!

PEACE!
