Poll question: Moral question of sorts

This is a very old question that I'm sure everyone has been asked a million times, and always, always sparks a quarrel. I delight in answering it because I love to get the dander up on everyone's neck who asks it, because I always answer as immorally--to them--as I can.

The question is always sparked when animal lovers like myself are scorned by people people. They find out we would rather have the company of cats, dogs or whatever animal we prefer to humans, especially children. It seems to me, though I can't be sure, that only hypocrites would ask the question, simply because it is one of those questions to which the answer should not even be in question.

You are at a lake, and there are a kitten and an infant in the water drowning. If you only have time to rescue one of them, which one are you going to rescue?

Well, I've been thinking about it, and have come up with additional answers to give the querent of the question in order to make it a more fair one. So choose your favorite, and answer as if you give a damn!!
