GOP revamps 2004 election strategy

(Washington) The scramble for a new Republican 2004 election strategy has moved from trot to full gallop. A computer disk containing a presentation was discovered on a Washington, D.C. sidewalk in June of 2002. Its contents, detailed election strategy for the mid-term and 2004 elections, have saved Democrats much of the guesswork on where their Republican opponents will focus their campaign message.

A White House aide apparently dropped the disk at a bus stop where the disk was recovered and placed into the hands of Roll Call, a congressional newspaper. The information was then shared fully with Democratic congressional members and disseminated over the Internet.

This means that the Republican Party campaign leadership, namely Republican National Committee (RNC) chairman Marc Racicot and Karl Rove, must rework its strategy in advance of the looming 2004 elections.

Gone from the party plank is the insistance that Republicans are singularly capable to manage the war on terrorism. GOP candidates are encouraged to align themselves with the president's policies (conceivably the president's donors too) with Gingrich-ite furvor. Faith-based initiatives are also getting the old heave-ho as several lawsuits appear poised to evaporate all momentum and send the initiative to a whimpering death.

There was a little rumbling concerning what to do with Attorney General John Ashcroft's proposal to establish internment camps and stripping citizens of their constitutional rights. Some party insiders have suggested experimenting with this program ahead of the 2004 elections, calling it a Republican initiative to protect the American family. To this goal, Republican insiders cite test cases of "enemy combatants" Jose "dirty bomber" Padilla and Yasser Esam Hamdi.

With a wink and a nudge, GOP consultant Scott Reed has issued a press release stating that Republicans always intended for this information to fall into the Democrats hands. "This was just a way to catch them (Democrats) off guard. Think of it as a bait-and-switch strategy."

The short list of campaign issues includes:
(1) focus on war happiness and tax cuts;
(2) strong teamwork between White House, political committees and sycophants;
(3) claim that uncomfortable history has been "fully vetted";
(4) pressure broadcast outlets to hire more Republican crotch-sniffing hosts;
(5) Prosecute Bill Clinton for Halliburton, WorldCom, Enron, Tyco, Harken Energy, Adelphia and Imclone malfeasance;
(6) declare another war on swarthy people.

Despite Reed's jovial assurances, members of the Republican party across the country are taking this strategic breach seriously enough to rethink their campaign messages. Even the information published in this article could scandalize Republican candidates. RNC chairman Marc Racicot has said that future campaign notes will be classified under "executive priviledge".

Rove says that the paramount goal of the Republican party is to pave the way for Bush's re-election campaign. "Of course we have the president's long-term interests in mind. If everything goes as planned - the American people will have no choice but to vote for President Bush."

10. LOL - Pretty sad how close satire can come to reality

Things like this almost have to be labeled "Satire" in big letters to not be taken seriously, since the repub party does so many outrageous things in reality. BTW, I did 'get' that it was satire. :-)
