Poll question: do you feel or think?
Edited on Mon Sep-04-06 06:50 AM by datasuspect
i often hear people say things like "i feel that global warming is a problem." i guess you can "feel" about it, but wouldn't you rather "think" about it?

is it more appropriate to "feel" about things emotional and "think" about things rational?

does fermat's last theorem arouse emotion in people where they might "feel" about it rather than "think" about it?

i THINK more than i feel about things.

which are you?

1. I am an uncontrollable mixture of both
I think almost everything completely through
I can also be a wreck when it comes to my feelings.
Hell I lost it last week.

2. I don't think..
... that either is good alone.

That said, it is always important to try to honestly assess the source of one's feelings :)

3. I do both, but I prefer to think.
Therefore few people tend to like me.

Now if I preferred to feel, and cry at all those stupid "modern" tv shows (escpecially sci-fi, where the 'sci' has been long since removed), I'd probably be considered a normal human being. :eyes:

5. I feel I'm a thinker, but I think I probably am more of a feeler.
I'm also a Libra. I think that probably that whole astrology thing is bunk, but I really feel it's accurate in my case.

9. I thought it was the song
everybody loves to hate.
At least lots of people have strong feelings of loathing for it.

14. it's lonely out tonight and the feeling just got right for a brand new
love song
A somebody done somebody wrong song.

The "who cares what other people think" paradigm
has not served me well. It makes the world a lonely
and hostile place. Even more so, that is. Anomie and
irony are not together in perfect harmony.

16. Works differently for me. If I like or dislike something, I readily admit
it. I'm the type of person that finds almost everything in life fascinating, so I don't spare a lot of thought to the idea that someone somewhere dislikes my choice. With billions upon billions of humans in the world, that is bound to be the case no matter what my thought.

13. If you mean a Myers-Briggsy kind of thing,
them I'm a Feeler.

But I will hasten to add that just because someone is primarily a feeler, doesn't mean that they are incapable of rational thought.

15. rational vs. emotional.
I definitely function very predominantly in a thinking, rational mode rather than a feeling, emotional one.

21. I'd call it intuiting
not meaning 'psychic', but feeling, thinking, 'hunching', sensing (ie using the physical senses) - a combination of what was (ie in my previous experience), what is right now, what could be...not something that I consciously do, flip back between them; just sense what is needed at the time, in that particular context.

If that makes any sense.

23. That's one of those little linguistic quirks that bugs the tar out of me.
Feeling is for emotions.

When someone is espousing an opinion (such as that global warming is a problem), he is telling us what he THINKS, not what he FEELS.
