there is a big o' coopers hawk sitting right outside my window.
lovely brownish plumage on his breast -- with a little wavy design in there.

lots of lovely grey plummage.

he looks fat -- hopefully from feeding on pigeons.

the other birds -- of which normally i have a ton -- have all taken a powder.

2. i'm thrilled!
as long as he doesn't ry to get ''my'' birds.

i'm very surpised the humming birds haven't seen him off.

they're usually very aggressive with other birds of prey that visit.

4. I can picture it :) ... we have bald eagles, ospreys, blue herons and tons
of ravens in our backyard (which is actually the Kennebec river). I like the ravens too, since the mascot for the GNU/Linux distro I work for uses a raven as a mascot.

3. cool, xchrom
Hawks are cool creatures, are they not?! I once saved a a hawk from possible death after it had flown to low and bounced off the hood of a car on the interstate.

Good Morning, and pleasant watching. :hi:

10. this one was an immature hawk.
the parents raise a couple of chicks every year in a small rose garden just a few feet from my house.

the young'uns stick around for quite a while.
