1. I hate it too!
It's tasteless, stringy, and smells rather funny. I had a roommate in college who would munch on it so loudly, at night, while I was trying to sleep, it drove me crazy. She was crazy, now that I think of it.

3. If that's the worst thing you've had a roommate do, you're lucky.
I have lived with a long line of freaks. In my life, I have had one normal roommate, and she was only normal in the respect that we were similar to each other.

8. The worst thing? The worst thing?

Oh...my stomach hurts from laughing. Where should I begin? The one who almost burned down our apartment? Oh, how about the one who liked to lock me out when she had her boyfriend over? Oh, oh, then there was the one who brought home a guy and made loud noises while she was...um...(can't say on a discussion board) when my parents were visiting! Oh...there are so many stories. But, you get the idea. No, the muncher was not the worst...maybe one of the strangest, but not the worst!

22. My troop Charlie had some real winner roommates
He only had two. After the second we gave him his own room forevermore.

The first guy...Charlie walked into his room after a long night at work and caught him worshipping the devil in the middle of the floor. We had to tell the guy he couldn't worship the devil in the barracks because open flames violate the Field Station fire safety SOP.

The second guy was even better. This fucking asshole came in drunk off his ass at five in the morning, peed in Charlie's dresser drawer, threw his dirty clothes in Charlie's wall locker, then got into bed with him. (Each room in our barracks had its own latrine--which was in line with the room door. It wasn't like we expected the guy to stagger down the hall.)

As far as I know, no celery was involved in either incident.

7. that sounds like
asparagus.

Celery was #1 on my list of bad vegetables until I had rutabaga, but celery was far more ubiquitous.

11. I don't mind celery...
but the two things I really hate....are cucumbers....and any and all melons.

Wish I liked melons...and I try every few years...but can't get the taste for them.

17. Is that true?
Cucumbers are melons?

If it is, that would make sense why I hate both cucumbers AND melons.

Though I have to say...I love pickles...especially the ones my Mom makes. SPICY!

18. Well in a broad sense yes
Honeydews, cantaloupe, and most of the unusual new melons (Crenshaw, Casaba, Juan Canary etc), are all Cucumis melo, cucumbers are Cucumis sativis, and other members of Cucumis include horned melon, and other things variously called melon or cucumbers. Watermelon however, are not in this cucumber-melon group, but a close watermelon relative is called a bitter cucumber...

Anyway, all these melon/cucumber guys are all closely related to squash and gourds.
