My kid is back in school! Come celebrate with me!
  :toast: :bounce:

Mom's and Dad's, and Mom's and MOm's and Dad's and Dad's, and all those who have or care for, progeny, join with me in a collective sigh of relief!

yeah, sure I miss him. But now I can get back to the business of sorting all my files, sending out invoices, blasting Gogol Bordello and deciding what I want my next career to be.

1. Rats
Mine is on a silly "gradual entry" program for her preschool. She went one hour last Thursday. Another hour tomorrow. No school on Tuesday because her school is used as a polling place. She only goes back regular hours next Thursday. Of course, she only goes half a day on Tuesday and Thursday at this point (sigh). But next year she goes to all day kindergarten! :bounce:

4. it's probably good in a way to do it gradually
my son had a hard time going from day care to kindergarten, since it was all-day.

It's hard to send them off to kindergarten, but it seems to get easier every year after that! ;)

5. I know!
I saw their pix. What cute kids you have. (and i like your decor, as well.)

Let's crank up the amps! (well, I work at home, so I can do that.) Crank up your imaginary amp, wherever you are.
Last year I blasted hardcore tunes in my kitchen. That was fun.

:woohoo: :hi:

3. Mine went back on August 17.
And it's been such blessed relief...turn off the tee vees, turn off all the lights (what is it with kids that they have to have lights on when sunshine's free? OPEN THE CURTAINS, ALREADY!!!), clean up and then know that, in an hour and a half, it's still gonna be clean.

Then, just as I was getting used to it, they got four days off for Labor Day. And girly-poo is home until tomorrow. And #2 son doesn't have to be at school until noon today.

*sigh*

But...next week, back to normal.

I only have one kid, but with him home and me shlepping him around, and working some, etc, chaos has descended.

9. aw
he he. It was hard to send mine to kindergarten 5 years ago, even though he had been in daycare. But this year, I knew it was time to go back, since I caught him watching The Price is Right. :silly:

It is pretty damn quiet around here. But I don't feel like doing any work, and things that need to be done around the house are calling. But do I answer? No. Here I sit. ;)

18. Yeah -- I was impressed.
The hostess of the party sent all her invitations out via email for free via evite.com. They even send a reminder. She had coffee, mimosas, pumpkin and marble bread, fruit, cheese. It was a very civilized way to start the school year.

11. Can a Grandma who babysits give a woo-hoo too?
Edited on Wed Sep-06-06 01:17 PM by OurVotesCount-Ohio
:bounce: :woohoo:

I love her dearly..but my that little girl can talk and talk and talk and talk and talk..and every sentence begins with OH GRANDMA.

She's been back in school for a week now so you can imagine how bottled up all that talking is when she comes home.

Ohhh..glad you started this thread. You jogged Grandma's memory! I have to call my son and see how my other granddaughter's first day of pre-school went.

I see a lot of grandparents throughout the summer, with their grandkids in tow.

Mine is entering the silent/then sarcasm stage so...

19. I'll celebrate tomorrow
Edited on Wed Sep-06-06 06:39 PM by Fuzz
Although, my wife has noticed I'm in an especially good mood this evening. :)

(I'm a stay at home daddy, mostly)

I had them working with me outside today and then I had them run a bit. Tried to tire them out as best I could so they would go to sleep quickly tonight. Been waking them up early every day this week too, to prepare. :)
