4. Mine:
1) So, what's for lunch? coffee

2) Last book you read? Basket Case, I just started Memory Keeper's Daughter

3) Last person you yelled expletives at? some numbnutz who let their dogs out to tinkle or whatever at the side of the highway (I'm guessing) and let the dogs get away. Stopped traffic while the dogs sat there and decided whether they were gonna run across while the owners were back by the car, crouched down, snapping and calling, "C'mere, baby, come one, sweetie..." GO GRAB THEIR COLLARS ALREADY, what, you WANT 'em to get hit? *ahem*

4) So where are you right now? I'm at work, eating a salad in my little mauve cubicle. I'm at home, in my little closet-turned-office

5) What do you collect? Dust.

6) Favorite quote? Two of 'em. Not really quotes, per se, but they're representative of me: "They're coming to take me away, ha ha, ho ho, hee hee; To the funny farm, where life is beautiful all the time and I'll be so happy to see those nice, young men in their clean, white jackets, they're coming to take me awayyyyyy...."...and, like my kids say, my theme song: "You can't always get what you want, you can't always get what you want, you can't always get what you want...But if you try sometimes, you just might find, you get what you neeeed..."

6)Favorite quote? Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.- Buddha

11. Here goes...
1. Whatever bag of chips in the vending machines looks most appealing in thirty minutes.

2. An Unfinished Life, An Autobiography of John F. Kennedy

3. It's been years since I've actually yelled at anyone; but if mumbling counts-- it's the guy who works in the desk across from me who has no problem with farting loud enough for me to hear, but quietly enough that no one else can hear.

4. At my desk, patiently waiting for another thirty minutes to tick by.

5. I collect coffee mugs from different countries (it's done by proxy, since I can't go to any foreign countries for at least another thirty minutes....)

6. Today's is: "People are like Slinky's-- they're quite useless, but still funny enough to watch when you push them down the stairs" (attributed to a very quirky co-worker who was cut off in traffic this morning-- presumably by the same driver you yelled at. That guy must get around!)

12. this was fun

1. lunch will probably be pizza
2. last book was probably "Blinded by the Right" by David Brock, for the third or fourth time
3. I can't remember...uh oh...it was my Dad several months ago. We have this tension... (in my defense he cursed me first)
4. sitting in front of my computer
5. I collect empty space. The more crap I get rid of, the happier I am.
6. I don't think I can narrow it down to one favorite since I quote stuff almost compulsively...one that had a pretty profound effect on me is from "Cold Mountain" by James Frazier
on page 420 as follows:

"And it was pointless, he said, to think how those years could have been put to better use, for he could harldy have put them to worse. There was no recovering them now. You could grieve endlessly for the loss of time and for the damage done therein. For the dead, and for your own lost self. But what the wisdom of the ages says is that we do well not to grieve on and on. And those old ones knew a thing or two and had some truth to tell, Inman said, for you can grieve your heart out and in the end you are still where you were. All your grief hasn't changed a thing. What you have lost will not be returned to you. It will always be lost. You're left with only your scars to mark the void. All you can choose to do is go on or not. But if go on, it's knowing you carry your scars with you."
