Really, is Hollywood THAT desperate for ideas? Most of those movies are pretty shitty anyways, and they seem to get worse by the year.

I guess I should say these are mostly all great films, but they aren't 'up-lifting' so to speak. I wouldn't even bother making a list of films that are just generally 'bad'.

they cleaned it up quite a bit from the book...

which is autobiographical...

and, the book is a cleaned up version of Dorothy Allison's childhood, in which, to this day, her mom is still married to the man that raped her, broke her arm and her coccyx and God knows what else during her childhood.

By the end of the film I was rooting for him but I really hate that he killed his lover, that broke me up. Matt Damon was amazing in that, I thought.

Not a bad movie but because of it's subject matter and dialogue, it's like sitting naked in a fiberglass insulated bed. You have to take nine showers after watching it.

Same with Oldboy and Irreversible.

(dancer in the dark) stars bjork and while i will occasionally shed a tear or two at movies (i am not much of a crier), this one had the tears pouring down my cheeks, it was so awful (the ending, not the movie)

23. Element of Crime

Lars Von Trier's "Element of The Crime"--it took me three attempts to even watch the entire thing, and it left me feeling extremely agitated and angry (and confused).

"The Hours"--One of my favorite films, but I also find it very upsetting.

"Leaving Las Vegas" -- Never understood the big deal about this film.

"Requiem for A Dream" -- Great film, but starkly disturbing.

"House of Sand and Fog" - Fantastically beautiful film, but they should distribute it with Prozac.
