1. It's a cheddar moon.
the night before a full moon, there's a cheddar moon.

Best to plant crops when the moon is in this state. You may also notice an unusual hyperactivity in children, pets, and small farm animals. Best to hold back on any financial investments as well.

You may also notice a craving for crackers and/or apple pie. :)

6. Well
it was a fun answer, at least! :)

Yes--a harvest moon is well known among farmers. It's different from a blue moon, though.

7. The Harvest Moon.
I will be in the country tomorrow performing a marriage, under the Harvest Moon.

Looking forward to getting out of the city.

The Harvest Moon is really large and bright but it is hard to tell in the city. I love the way it lights up the country side.

10. I call it a bathroom moon
we have skylights in our bathrooms upstairs
and when the moon is full and bright like it is tonight you don't have to
turn on the lights to go to the bathroom!
Its actually pretty cool with the shadows...

12. Like this?

http://home.hiwaay.net/~krcool/Astro/moon/moonorange/

"Have you ever wondered why the moon is more orange or yellow in color when it first rises at night. This effect is caused by the atmosphere of the earth. The reason for the orange color is due to the scattering of light by the atmosphere. When the moon is near the horizon, the moonlight must pass through much more atmosphere than when the moon is directly overhead. By the time the moonlight reaches your eyes, the blue, green, and purple pieces of visible light have been scattered away by air molecules. That's why you only see yellow, orange, or red."

14. I saw it too...
Harvest moon, yes.

I was coming back from the drugstore at dusk - I walk over a highway overpass on that route, and I saw it coming up just above the Chicago skyline.

I just stood and stared at it all for a good two or three minutes. Being able to see and appreciate that is one of the reasons why I'm so glad to be alive.
