Unable to sleep these past few nights. Why? MOMMA KITTY

She makes this lovely purruping noise. Until now she's done it as kitten sonar. It was really quite sweet.

A few days ago she began to make that sound constantly. Last night she added these trills to the purrups. I swear, it now sounds like she's gone into heat again. !!! Six weeks after giving birth?

And if those sounds weren't enough, I know the girl's bored because she plays. Constantly. Loudly. Hardwood floors, cat claws, fur-covered plastic mice. Noisy.

1. My "little darling"

has been hyper lately too. ( BTW, she has been spayed). So, I went to PetSmart and bought a laser pen. I make sure she has plenty of running around chasing balls and the laser light before I head for the bedroom. She gets pretty exhausted and zonks out. Peace at last! (Hide the noisy toys til morning).

My hubby was ready to lock himself in the guest room - things were getting that noisy! Now, before we go to bed he can relax in his recliner with the laser and run kitty around til she runs out of steam. Worth the 10 bucks.

with our cats it either knocks them out or gets them running around the house to the point where they are so exhausted they fall asleep..

we grow our own. we live onto a mountain. we call the catnip Hilltop "High"

8. It does sound like she's in heat again

If the babies are eating kitty food well I'd go ahead and call the vet. I had one get out on me when she was back in heat and had kittens a bit younger than that, leaving me to give all 7 :wow: of them KMR until they could totally transition to solids.

9. I can relate ...

Last night had three major kitty interruptions: One boy going berzerk and thundering up and down the hardwoods right as I was drifting off to sleep. Then my 13-year-old girl( :loveya: ) nesting into my hair, purring in my ear, and massaging my scalp with sharp claws (I am definitely her "mother cat" figure). Then my other boy doing his early morning "MAOW-WOW!"ing, trying his best to wake the house to get attention. I feel like: :hangover:

It sounds like what happened with the feral momma-to-be I brought into my home in the spring. BTW, I replied to you in the Pets group too.

edited to add: I got my momma-kitty fixed when her kitties were about 8 weeks old. Are the babies eating food yet? If they are eating well enough that they could be weaned, it is OK to get her fixed. I brought momma kitty back home after getting fixed, and the babies still wanted to nurse out of comfort now and then, and she didn't seem to mind at all. I guess it didn't cause her any pain.

BTW, my momma kitty used to sit on the windowsill right by my head and make those sounds at night! I kept chasing her out of the room. She stopped doing it after getting fixed. She must have been looking for her next lover... and now she doesn't feel the urge to do so anymore.
