Poll question: Project Runway: Who will win (and yes I'm sure there are **spoilers**)
We're down to the final 5:

Kayne: The king of Pageant dresses
Laura: Top designer for the tall & thin middle aged women
Michael: Hip-Hop classic style
Jeffrey: Shredder chic
Uli: The "Uli" - flowing long dresses, cut deep in the back usually with 2 contrasting patterns, sometimes just contrast colors

Who is gonna win it all

1. I think Michael should win....
...though I also think Laura and Uli are deserving.

2. I think Michael has a major future in fashion
That guy just wows me every week. Even when he designed for himself I was thinking "He should make female versions of those Seersucker Pants, I'd buy them!"

6. Seersucker cargo pants....
...nobody could ever accuse Michael of not thinking outside the box. It's a pretty cool idea.

7. Or a dress made entirely from coffee filters
That dress should have won

4. Here's my opinion.
Kayne- I'd buy one of his gowns for a prom dress. I really liked his pageant and I adore his personality, but he's helpless when it comes to another thing such as pants.

Laura- A designer for an older woman who doesn't design clothes with kitties all over them. I really like her, and I do think she's fabulous.

Michael- Winner, hands down. I love his clothes and his personality. I would buy half the stuff he makes.

Jeffery- Asshole. I detest him, and I think you have to be a good person to make good clothes.

Uli- A little repetititve, but patterns are hard to work with. She really does neat stuff, and she brings something new to the world of boho fashion.

5. I think final 3 are Michael, Jeffrey and I'm torn on Uli or Laura
Kayne isn't in, he's next on the chopping block and he'll end up with an amazing career and Pageant Gown designer for the champions.

I really believe that Michael and Jeffrey are shoo-ins and it'll be down to the final design and if either Uli or Laura can break out of their normal pattern and bring in the win. Both gals are expert seamstresses with amazing execution - but they always produce the same exact thing each week. Michael was so out of his element with the couture gown but even he stepped up to the plate and on paper had a great design

15. yup, I agree. Can't tell if it'll be Uli or Laura, but I'm pretty
sure Michael and Jeffrey will be in the top three. Kayne is the next Bob Mackie, designing wild dresses for the next few generations' Cher. He is personally much, much nicer than Jeffrey but just can't rein in the flamboyance that seems to get him in trouble.

I don't really like Jeffrey personally, but he is very good at what he does, and can design well for men and women, as can Michael.

I wish Uli and Laura would do something different -- the previews for next week showed Laura before a dress that looked so similar to everything else she's ever done. She was also crying, but I think she's just exhausted/emotional from her pregnancy. The competition at this level has got to be fierce, it can't help at all to have all those other hormones bouncing around.

13. I know someone who works with Uli
>A little repetititve, but patterns are hard to work with<

I would LOVE one of the tops she made for the mom she worked with. LOVE IT. I would buy it tomorrow. It was chic, flattering and not "cookie cutter". She has an amazing eye for color and pattern.

The woman I know that works with Uli says that nobody knows what happened and that they've been officially told to make no comment. She also says, though, that Uli is a very, very nice person.

23. I think she's really cute.
Absolutely adorable.

I love the top she made for Kayne's mom as well. I would buy it, if I were a few years older. Gor-geous.

8. Michael wins, with Uli and Jeffrey in the top 3.
I didn't even think his couture dress was that bad, especially compared with all of the others (no one really nailed that one).

I know a lot of people like Laura's stuff, but she really has never impressed me. Maybe her personality grates on me - I hate aggressive types, but I REALLY hate passive aggressive agressive types (meaning, she talks her shit in the private sessions to the camera and makes little pithy comments elsewhere). Jeffrey's a total ass, but at least he shows it. Not that I like him either.

I actually think Uli, Jeffrey, and Laura are fairly interchangeable. They're all good... but not great. None of them hold a candle to Michael though.

9. I was thinking Michael, but...
He hurt his record in last night's challenge. Up until then he had consistently done good and fairly interesting clothes. His couture gown was not up to par. The idea was nice, except for the scalloped breast plates, but why on earth did he decide to hand-ruch the entire bodice when he had never done anything like that before? The dress as a result was poorly constructed. I was actually worried about him last night, because the judges will often kick someone off for such poor execution. I guess they took into account his past efforts.

Laura and Uli continue to show that they are one trick ponies. Laura always does the elegant-yet-simple classic look, and last night she did it badly. Uli's dress was beautiful, well made and had nice detail in the bodice, and she refrained from using 6 different patterns of material, so it worked. But it's still the same damn dress she makes every week - same shape, same back, same front, same silk chiffon, etc.

Kayne could have been in the running last night if only he could restrain his tacky impulses a bit. The skirt on his gown was gorgeous and the constructed corset bodice was really well made. I was amazed he could get that bodice to fit so well on two models of such different size. But, as the judges said, he just goes overboard with the glitz. If he had made a simple satin corset top with that interesting laced back and lovely flowing skirt, he might have even won. But he had to load it up with mesh and applique and velvet ribbons and glitter and what have you.

Vincent deserved to be off'ed for that ugliness he made. Seems like he spent so much time making the pattern he didn't have time to finish the dress! I don't think gluing the hem was what they meant by "hand-finishing". The sleeves were weird, the dress didn't fit the models, and was he channeling Angela when he stuck that fabric flower on the butt? Vincent has done a few nice things, but was too inconsistent overall.

Jeffrey did the only truly couture gown. I probably wouldn't wear it myself, but I could see that gown coming down the runway at an Alexander McQueen or John Galliano show (Heck, McQueen just did a whole collection of tartan gowns!). I was amazed he could make a gown that elaborate and that well constructed in only two days. It was the only gown that was innovative, fashion-forward and impeccably made.

Jeffrey has won two challenges in a row, is clearly the most innovative designer on the show, and he has great technical skills. His only real clunker has been the "everyday woman" look. So I'm picking Jeffrey to win.

11. Did you take up crack smoking when you moved?

:hide:

Jeffrey has been in the bottom twice and had horrible product for the Pageant & Fashion Icon events but there were enough people around to keep him out of the bottom 3.

Michael has been absolutely consistant throughout the contest and you can't hold that Couture challenge against him because he had 2 days and even said it wasn't something he had ever done before. But even knowing that he STILL wasn't in the bottom two.

Jeffrey takes the challenge and tries to fit it around his style of designing. So the one time he couldn't get away with shredding a dress (Everyday Woman) he ended up with something that looked like it was a 7th grade Home Ec project one made for their mom. Michael takes his style and caters it towards the challenge at hand. Michael has a unique 'hip-hop' flavor to his style but has never once pigeon-holed himself with creating the same concept week after week. Every outfit he has done week after week has clearly not been molded from things he has done previous weeks.

Michael can design stuff that has a hip-hop flavor and yet have a wide appeal to all types of women. If you're not into the Goth/Rock Star Shredded look then Michael has nothing for you

12. i find michael's stuff boring.
this far into the show and i'm unimpressed with his stuff.

and you should really get hip to herve leger before waxing so poetic about michael's ''hip hop'' style.

those seer sucker cargo pants were so tired i wanted to see him canned for that alone -- and please a shirt you could see on star trek -- or las vegas star search.

jefferey's ''couture'' gown was stunning -- and the best outfit produced on project runway yet.

...it looked like Raggedy Ann got run over by a lawn mower. None of the designers hit a home run last night.

18. Have to disagree
Michael's couture gown was poorly made and looked like a mess, and he had the same amount of time as everyone else. Bad choice on his part. Jeffrey's gown was the only one that truly qualified as couture, and was well made on top of that.

I find Jeffrey's work much more varied and innovative than Michael's. He has taken some chances that didn't work out. His Everyday Woman was an ugly dress for an ugly woman (ugly inside I mean, whiny little bitch that Angela's mom was). His Fashion Icon dress for Madonna was fine- it looked like something Madonna would have worn, and it wasn't in the bottom of that challenge. His paper dress was stunning, his team almost won the Macy's design challenge (without their team leader), his rock n' roller jet-setter outfit was way cool, and even his dress for dog-lady challenge was nice. I don't think he has shown anything yet that was actually "shredded", though he does like asymmetrical cuts and layering.

Quite frankly, I find pagent dresses to be ridiculous aberrations anyway (certainly not fashion!), so I could care less what anyone designed for that one. Jeffrey's dress was asymmetrical and not pagenty, but at least he didn't make an over-embellished mermaid dress!

10. I picked Michael in the poll, but
Edited on Thu Sep-07-06 09:54 AM by Pithlet
I think it's about 50/50 between him and Jeffrey as far as who will probably win it. I think Michael is by far the most talented of all of them, even with his screw up last night. But, the judges really seem to love Jeffrey's goth/punk sensibilities. I agree, either Uli or Laura will be the third designer. Kayne is good at construction, and good for the niche he serves, but he just isn't a high fashion designer.

16. I agree re Laura, but I think she should have taken
more of a chance with the fabric - different texture, print, SOMETHING other than black wool. I liked the way it looked, I thought the collar was beautiful, but please, no more 'basic black'. I think that's why the judges responded to Jeffrey, b/c of his risky prints.

Michael would have been better served if he hadn't chosen just a basic, blah blue. THat blue is for prom dresses - perhaps it was lovelier in person, but it wasn't a very sophisticated color choice. I do like Michael, though, and think he could be another Ralph Lauren with an edge.. Not really my style, but certainly fits a certain niche.

it was the right idea -- but too reserved for the challenge.

which is an odd thing to say about laura's outfits.

17. I don't know who will win, but it is certainly being set up to be a match
against nice guy Michael and mean selfish jerk Jeffrey.

I'm putting my money on Michael. Now that I know what Jeffrey is like, there is no way I would buy anything connected to him, there are just too many options out there.

20. Ok, this is a kiss of death for Michael
but I like him & I've liked most of the things that he's presented thus far. Even the couture dress which the judges panned looked good to me, especially since it was his first try at it. So what if my opinion differs from the judges'? I thought Jeffrey's dress was butt-ugly & looked like all he'd done was drape a bolt of fabric over the model & safety-pinned it on her, while Kayne's looked great, but he was told his dress sucked.

24. Michael has shown he can go out of the "hip hop" style
i think he has the most talent when it comes to designing different things.

i did like Uli's last dress though. although she has mostly stuck to her personal style. i look foward to more an dhope she shows something different.

Laura IS boring me. and i can't stand Jeffrey but he was kind of right on this.
