I'm Wounded
Because I care too much. I've just been dumped by my boyfriend because I'm too "emotional" and care about his welfare way more than I should. I took his car keys away from him last night after he had too much to drink. Now I'm a pariah because I did the right thing. He won't return any of my calls and I am so depressed. I know I did the right thing, but why does it feel so wrong?

It sounds like you did the right thing. I hope he realizes that after he has time to think about it.

3. Hopefully he'll wise up.
You absolutely did the right thing.

If he really thinks driving drunk is the right thing, and you were wrong for preventing him, then he's got some big issues going on.

5. Oh, Q, I'm so sorry.
 I know you had fallen for him, and it hurts terribly. :pals: It feels wrong because he was put off by your actions (which, IMO, were right on target) when you did the caring, loving thing instead of letting him injure or kill himself or someone else by driving drunk. I do hope he cools off and realizes you did that because you love him.

12. Thank you for saying that, sweetie.
 So are you. You're a kind, sensitive man, and I just hate seeing you treated that way. :pals: Are things any better, or is he still acting like a child? I hope for your sake that he's realized what a jerk he's been.

8. You definitely did the right thing
that much is so apparent that it will have to occur to him at some point soon, and then he'll realise all of the other good things about you as well.

Until then, there isn't much we can do - apart from offering you a big  and telling you what a great man you are.

9. Sorry to her that
But, you know what, if he's pissed about that... he probably wasn't the guy for you.

10. You should take this time to learn why you found yourself attracted to
a person with a potential drinking problem, and why you place his self worth above your own.

Things like this happen so that you can learn from them.

You're not a pariah. You didn't enable his problem, therefore you weren't "fun" anymore. It's a good learning experience...

big hugs!!!!

11. I'm sorry, querelle
The guy sounds like a grade A jerk.

The fact that you may have saved his life last night doesn't mean anything to him?

Does he have an anger problem, a drinking one, and/or a control one? (they often go together...)

You don't need the drama, or the hassle. You can do so much better...I hope that you find someone who gives you the very same care that you are so generous with.

In the meantime, here's a few

13. Maybe he's still sleeping it off, or
he's too embarrassed to talk to you right now. What he NEEDS to do, is put on his big boy pants and apologize for being hurtful, and thanking you for caring enough about him.

Also, remember that in the "if loving you means losing you" mind, YOU did nothing wrong. He's making the choice to walk away.
