XM radio vs. Sirius

I'm looking for input re: good/bad on both of these. Radio in the D.C. environs is just awful, and I'm considering getting one of these for home use. I'm open to suggestions.

1. I didn't know they were available for home use.
How, where etc?

I would choose Sirius just because XMSR is the big honcho. Sirius has a lot to prove and will be trying harder.

2. a pox on both their houses
I suppose if we'll pay for bottled water, we'll pay for radio, too. What a scam.

Sirius in his car, and XM in mine. Sirius has a much better talk radio selection, whereas XM is more music oriented. We both love it. Even the channels that do have commercials have far fewer of them and are spaced farther apart, plus no annoying local commercials. It's especially good on long road trips, because you don't have to worry about finding music on the radio and having it fade on you as you go. Whichever you go with, I think you'll be happier with sat radio than local.

I used to live in the DC area and remember when radio was much better. It was already going downhill by the time I left.

Edited to add that I listen to mostly the alternative channels, and the music they play is usually stuff you'd never hear on regular radio. Ethel and Fred are my two favorite channels.

4. Sirius radio is the home of Mike Malloy...
and that should be enough.
