Poll question: THE REAL POLL: Least Favorite Neologism/Buzzword. |
|
For those needing explanation, a neologism is a made-up word which garners popular acceptance and a buzzword is an existing word which has been corrupted or overused to the point of meaninglessness. Which one do you think is tearing apart the fabric of the universe faster, careering it with greatest facility at breakneck speed to entropic heat death?

I also hate the expression, "speaks to." As in, "Her tragic story speaks to the issues of race and class in America."

Yes. The correct word is "addresses", possibly "relates" depending on the meaning.

3. Faith-based, but also "partnering". |
|
Faith-based is not a word. The correct term is "religious" or "sectarian."
Partner is not a verb. The correct term is either "cooperating" or "collaberating".
