1. Why not head over to Atlantic City

I really wouldn't do too much time in any of the NYC suburbs in NJ, but there are probably tons of cheap transportation from NYC to Atlantic City PLUS at this time of the year it's pretty easy to find cheap hotels within the good sections of the city

Hell, I could get to AC for just $10 each day. Of course I'd have to ride with the regulars that hang out at the local coffee shop

5. Short Hills, NJ

Hobokon really isn't a place I'd hang out much in, but I know that Short Hills is really nice

My last job would have team meetings in Short Hills because everyone wanted to go shopping afterwards, they have some top notch homes. If people need hotels there are some around $50-60 that are about 5-10 miles away (probably closer to the Newark Airport)

7. I was thinking about Hoboken but I haven't checked prices yet.

I know most of the NY DUers would need public transportation to join us.

I'd like to make it easy for everyone.

I also like LynneSin's idea about Atlantic City if everyone can get there.

but last time I was up there I was at a bar and was quite annoyed that I was paying "New York prices" for everything

11. Short Hills is not that far from the Newark Airport

And if MsHC is flying out of that airport you can probably find a hotel nearby and pick a restaurant in Short Hills. NJTransit connects directly through Short Hills from New York's Penn Station on the M&E green line

I'm looking at my calendar, the 22nd is a Friday which means (ugh!) work. I really thought I was going to be in Canada for that week but they cancelled that class about a week ago and now I'm going in October.

BTW, if you're not busy in mid-October, come hang out with me up in Canada!

20. I would say Hoboken is a good place to meet up.

You don't even have to stay in Hoboken, because the public transportation there is great from everywhere. It's not going to be any more expensive in Hoboken than in Short Hills, as Short Hills is the most insanely expensive town in NJ, although it is very close to the airport. There are nearby towns like Springfield that are cheaper, but DUers coming in by train would have a hard time getting to any sort of meeting place.

Atlantic City is like 3 hours from NYC and the airport.

I had a friend in college who used to alway joke with me that all roads in New Jersey lead to Hoboken. And now that I'm once again an official Jersey boy, I vote for Hoboken.

North Jersey because "all trains lead to Hoboken" plus it's super easy for NYC DUers. Most other towns don't work because even once NYers got off the train, they wouldn't be able to walk to the meetup place and well Atlantic City is really fucking out of the way.

Geez, just take the path or almost any train heading to NJ, get off the train and walk towards the bars.

26. Jersey City, NJ - on the Waterfrront...

I lived there for two years. You can take the PATH or the buses into the Port Authority bus terminal. Or you can go farther in to JC near Journal Square but it's not as nice in that area.

It's only a 30-45 minute commute into 33rd street by PATH train. VERY easy commute for the area, in my opinion.

Or you can take the nice NJ Transit trains and live on the Morris and Essex line (Summit, Chatham, Madison). I lived there for a few months. It's more like a 90 minute commute but it's much more comfortable.

JC is MUCH cheaper than Hoboken, btw.
