my surge protector saved my computer a few weeks ago... question.
Do I need to get a new surge protector? It's still providing electricity to my computer stuff. But does it need to be replaced after a zap?

The lightning took out two tv's, three telephones, the directv box, two vcr's and a radio... all had to be replaced. Should I replace the surge protector?

Thanks.

1. I would.
The surge protector is designed to prevent spikes or surges in electricity from hitting whatever is plugged into it. When lightning strikes, it damages electronic parts. Surge protectors have electronic parts inside. If you know how to use a multimeter, you could check the parts inside the surge protector to see if they got damaged then make a decision. IMHO, I'd replace it.

4. I've thought about that
They do have those kinds of thing, but they're pretty expensive, I think.

5. Maybe you should run all your phones and entertainment off that

bar. That is a hero surge protector.

Lightning yikes !!!!

Normally surges occur from cold starts
on corroded connections or randomly from
demand surges in the house or neighborhood.
