Grazing at Costco
before my big weed pull this afternoon, I went to Costco for, guess what, a rotisserie chicken (unfortunately they were out of peach pie).

But the sampling folks were out in force: potstickers, dino chicken nuggets, chocolate raspberry bonbons, spinach-cheese raviolis, and I can't remember what else. Who needs to fix lunch or buy it when sampling is this good? I broke down and bought the chocolate raspberry bonbons. OMG -- they are so freaking good.

1. The grazers fascinate me
Whole families come in and "do lunch". It's better than feeding time at the zoo. There's one terrific photo essay there. Maybe even a graduate dissertation.

3. Grazers fascinate me as well. But the rotisserie chicken...
....is there a better ready-to-eat food item available for five bucks, anywhere?:hi:

4. Nope -- certainly not a more healthy one.
Not only that, I get at least 5 meals out of one -- more if I cook the carcas and make soup. It isn't deep fried, or fat-laden, or sugared to oblivion. Just good wholesome food. I was thinking of getting a rotisserie and cooking them myself but for $5, I'd rather have them clean up the mess. Heck the damn uncooked chicken costs that much anyway.

7. Someone else here on DU said they pump those chickens up with butter.
So they are very high in fat, much more than a regular chicken. But dee-eee-licious!

2. I used to really enjoy doing that...
Still do, actually. It's like a scavenger hunt to track down all the tables, time your arrival to be there right when the samples come out of the fryer or whatever, and slip through the crowd to grab the last tidbit out from under the grasping paw of some grubby child...

:)

6. We made a joke out of going around and around to the same table, over
and over again, about 8 or 9 times, to see if the woman would notice us coming back. We walked down the frozen food aisle and back to the same woman handing out tortilla chips with a little nacho cheese dip in a paper cup. It was about 2 minutes between each visit to her table. Each time we took it, one or the other of us would say, "Oooh, nacho cheese!" The woman didn't even notice that we were the same people each time, about 8 or 9 times if I remember correctly. It was pretty crowded though. We stopped doing it because we were laughing too much each time we came to the table.
