I call it the "brain drain." :-)

They lie on their back, head upside down wanting a belly rub with chin scratch.

1. Oh, yes.
And The Wiley and Excellent Boy Cat Named Ginger doesn't know his own strength. He always bangs the back of his head on the floor on his way down to "belly rub" position. :eyes:

4. !!!

We once looked after a cat - a beautiful Burmese - who was too lazy to lie down carefully. He would just bend down a bit and then FLOP! onto the floor. It was so cute!

:D

5. He would also see how far he could stretch out
I reckon he could do nearly a metre from front paw to rear paw.

And he was passionate about having his chin tickled.

I've dubbed it the "bellyrub sprawl".

6. We call it the Upside Down Configuration
Socrates and Plato sleep like that, which I've never seen any cat do until they started doing it when they were little. Considering both cats are *huge* (not fat!), that's a lot of belly to rub!

The other cats will be upside down occasionally, but never for sleeping or any extended periods of time.

7. Mac tries to make us think he wants a belly rub
He has a most wonderful belly, full of tabby polka dots, and he is very big and squashy soft. But when you reach down to rub his tummy he tries to disembowel your hand with all his claws. I don't get fooled anymore, but the sight of his wonderful undercarriage is VERY tempting.
