how much $$ is "doggie day-care"? |
|
My nephew just hates his barista job. So I was trying to think of work that he could do as an alternative -- something more self-directed. He's a whiz with dogs and really enjoys being with them. I was thinking that if he even took on just two dogs at a time he'd probably be making as much as he makes brewing espresso, which is $8.25 per hour plus about $30 per day in tips. He has thought about opening a fun park facility for dogs but doesn't have the capital to do anything that grand.
So I'm wondering how much people pay daily for doggie care. Anyone know?

1. So your brother is making about $480.00 a week, |
|
(based on $8.25hr times 40 plus $30 bucks a day in tips) and wants out. He should not give up his job. Ease into the new job on his off time to make sure the market is out there. Become a dog walker in his off time and talk to the owners. If he's got a plan and is hard working, someone will see the opportunity to finance/cash in on his hard work. Just make sure any deal is 65% owned by him.

The market exists in this area -- voted America's most pooch-friendly town by Dog Fancy magazine. Too many people have too many dogs and leave them alone in their big houses all day. This town is disproportionately double income no kids couples -- young professionals. They have the money to indulge their dogs, and do.
Your advice is good. Thanks.

2. I have actually thought about opening up a "doggie day-care." |
|
We take our dog to one and it is 16.00/half day and $30.00/full day -- there are usually at least 50 dogs there, sometimes more. To board your dog overnight it is $40.00. They are full for every holiday.
I need to do some research on what kind of zoning and insurance requirements there are, but I think it would be a great business.
