Has anyone here taken an evasive driving course?
The family jokes about how I could star in a video called Granny School of Driving. And I might have to take evasive driving for a job I'm interested in. Yikes! I'm not sure I'm ready to purposefully ram another vehicle or drive someone off a road. Do they really teach you that stuff, or is it something you have to have a genetic predisposition for?

2. I evade those types of driving courses
So, technically, in a way, I have already learned the lessons they try so hard to teach. (I have a genetic predisposition to be :silly: ).

3. I'm confused: how would ramming someone or driving them off the road
qualify as "evasive driving"?

4. What kind of job requires you to take an evasive driving course?

6. anything involving cash or gems
Edited on Tue Sep-12-06 12:21 AM by pitohui
a lot of small retail businesses are cash only, surprisingly junk and flea market dealers get jacked a lot

a lot of gem show dealers also get jacked a lot altho really most of them take credit cards now so perhaps they aren't as big of targets as they were back in the day

any time you're doing shows in different towns every weekend, and people know you have a good earn at a certain show, you could be a target

i remember once a jeweler friend saying in despair he didn't know ANYONE who had never been victim of armed robbery, he did flea's and gem/mineral shows

5. why would evasive driving involve ramming and jamming?
Edited on Tue Sep-12-06 12:19 AM by pitohui
i'm a self taught evasive driver (used to be involved in a cash business) but the whole point of being evasive is to evade

not to confront or to make contact

to evade

you can be evasive and still be in the "granny" school of driving, in fact, one of my favorite techniques when i thought i was being followed was the go real slow or even the go real slow 'n' wave 'em over to pass

if when you go real slow, they refuse to pass, then you know they're up to high badness and then you can step it up

but 90-plus percent of the time when somebody is tailing you it ISN'T because he wants to jack your roll, it's because he's a tail-gaiting asshat, so let 'em pass and go on w. your life
