8. No one ever wants to see me
My parents never come. So I usually just hang in my room. So far, I watched Katie Couric for the first time (no cable here so no choice but network TV), I worked on an IEP and did some other paperwork and now I am playing on the internet.

Only one more hour.

Oh I need to forge some parent signatures on my sign in sheet. Or I could go out in the hall and find some sympathetic parents to sign my sheet.

Nah I'll go for the forgery. :)

13. I had one parent two years ago.
Her daughter dragged her kicking and screaming into the room to see what she'd been working on. We'll probably be lucky to get thirty parents tomorrow.

5. Mine was two weeks ago
I wish I could have hidden, but with 800 students, that's a lot of parents in my room! I'm the Music Teacher, so I see them all.

Good luck! :hi:

14. Hey at least you're there...
My sister & I both had one teacher in HS. Well, I had her first and became friends with her after graduation. My mom who never went to open houses decided to go to my sister's one year, just so they could meet this teacher that we both loved so much. Well, she wasn't there.

My mom calls me up to say that she went to the open house just so she could meet this teacher and she was the only teacher not there. Yep, that's because she ditched the open house to go to a Poetry Festival with me.

I thought it was pretty funny and yeah, the following year my mom resumed her usual complete lack of interest in school events/meetings/whatever.

15. LOL That is funny!
I wish I could ditch. But I have to be here. Three evenings a year. Open House and 2 parent teacher conferences. It's in my contract.

17. You are so lucky,
I'm the art teacher... I get everyone plus their grandmas coming in to see little Susie's art work. Plus I have been there long enough that my former students come in to see their children's art work! I hate Open House... I put in a damn hard day, then I have to stand there in heels and smile and pretend to be interested for an additional 2 hours at night. Makes for about a
15-hour day that feels like 24.

And the students whose parents should come in never do, of course.

She's so fake around her kids but as soon as they go to lunch or whatever (i had the pleasure of visiting her in her classroom over thanksgiving break last year) she's all "those damn kids wear me out. i hate this job so much, etc.
