If you don't already have it, may I recommend the Springsteen CD that the song is on, "The Rising". It also includes the most powerful and beautiful song about 9/11 (IMO), "Into The Fire".

Actually, Springsteen wrote this song "My City of Ruins", along, I believe, with several others on the CD including "The Rising", before 9/11. The songs were originally about his home town, Asbury Park, NJ, which had sunk into decay quite badly.

So, was it coincidence, or something else, that moved Bruce to have these beautiful songs ready for the days immediately after 9/11?
