Positive Songs For Children?
I wanted some ideas for some positive children's songs to sing in the morning before we start school. My daughter and I usually sing and dance when we first get up to start the day off in a fun manner. Its really hard to be in a bad mood after doing the Hokey Pokey. LOL. Maybe something that has a positive spin about self worth and accomplishment? It doesn't have to be school related. I couldn't find any online when I searched. Thank you in advance! :)I am off to finish math and spelling with the little one. Have a good morning DU'ers!

1. How about "Yellow Submarine"?
It doesn't really have a "self-worth and accomplishment" theme, but I've always found it a fun song, and it seems great for kids. Something to inspire the imagination. :)

11. there's actually a few that've been released...
here's the "mother and child" album http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:84j4eaz04xh7 and he's also got one called nursery days, and two volumes called "grow big"

he was a pretty interesting character, definitely a hero of mine - i wish i had a way to make everyone know about him

14. I Watched a Bio
about him not to long ago. Very interesting life. You can always make a web page about him to get the word out. I am sure many people would frequent it. Good luck on your mission. :)

16. was it that american masters bio on PBS?
that was fantastically done...woody was my main inspiration to go out and do some traveling of my own, of the train hopping/hitchhiking variety, to see what this country is all about. and it's funny because no matter where i was, what was happening or what i was doing, i could always find a verse or two from one of his songs to sing that would fit my situation perfectly. unfortunately i busted my collarbone in june so i'm laid up right now, but i'm hittin the road again in less than a month...i can't wait

18. It Was Actually!
I thought it was really well done as well. I was impressed with the thought and research that went into it. Hope you get on the mend quick so you can enjoy your upcoming road trip.

5. Sing
Edited on Wed Sep-13-06 12:07 PM by philosophie_en_rose
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sing_(song)

Sing, sing a song.
Sing out loud, sing out strong.
Sing of good things not bad.
Sing of happy, not sad.

Sing, sing a song.
Make it simple, to last your whole life long.

Don't worry that it's not good enough.
For anyone else to hear.
Just sing, sing a song.

Sing, sing a song.
Let the world sing along.
Sing of love there could be.
Sing for you and for me.

Sing, sing a song.
Make it simple, to last your whole life long.
Don't worry that it's not good enough
For anyone else to hear.

Just sing, sing a song.
Just sing, sing a song.
Just sing, sing a song.

On Edit: Also "Happiness" from You're A Good Man Charlie Brown or "Puff the Magic Dragon" (easy to sing)

I had a teacher that made us sing "Zippity Do Dah." I would not choose that one, however.
