18. This was at Farm Sanctuary in Orland, CA

They take in mistreated and abandoned animals from factory farms. The turkey in the pic (and all the ones in that barn, I think) were found in a box in a dumpster. He's really smart, he'd come when I called him. He just sat and let me pet him for probably 45 minutes and if I got up to do anything he'd just follow me around the barn.

He didn't die in that dumpster, he's got a nice cool barn and other turkeys around and plenty of food and vet care if he needs it and he'll have that all of his natural life. Oh, and he's got humans who drive out to the middle of nowhere just to make much of him, which he seems to enjoy a great deal.
