9. (grin) A microwave and less than six minutes - easier than mainlining it.

I got hooked on LARGE and strong mochas in the Pacific Northwest (1992-97) where EVERYONE does caffeine and drive-through 'designer coffee' stands are more common than gas stations (it seems). Starbucks and Seattle's Best are now as comfortable to me as an opium den was for Conan Doyle.

If I don't start my day with one, I start having caffeine withdrawal headaches. But I never do caffeine after 3pm. Never. Not even cola.

a "mountain mocha". We would hike instant coffee and hot chocolate mix up all the mountains with us and have it for breakfast. It helps you get up at 2 or 3 am when you have toasty hot goodness in a cup.

Every day starts with Starbucks House Blend.

Caffe Costadoro is killer espresso. I have a Krups machine that's a traditional drip coffee maker on the right and a cappuccino machine on the left. Both sides get spanked regularly.

And as I don't eat any sugar and I've ditched aspartame because I don't particularly like brain tumors either, my choices are limited to homemade tea, a few varieties of pre-bottled iced tea (Arizona and a couple others use Splenda or ACE-K) and Splenda Coke, which is getting harder and harder to find these days and rumors are starting that it's going to be discontinued. I hear diet RC-cola uses Splenda but I don't see it on shelves here and don't know whether it is caffeinated.

when I lived near one. Now, the closest is about 50 miles away. Great coffee for anyone's taste, and the prices were the best for bean coffee. Even estate and fair trade coffee there.

My personal favorite is Mocha Java, but they had some other stuff there that I got hooked on.

29. I'm a coffee snob.

At home, I only use free-trade, organic fair trade coffee from Cafe Habitat and it goes to a good cause. It's a co-op designed to give jobs to the homeless, so I'm definitely giving money to a good place.

Then, I use a burr grinder to individually grind the coffee, as I brew it. I only brew coffee in a French press. I'll drink drip coffee elsewhere, but why shouldn't I do it right when I'm home?

If I'm buying a cup of coffee, I generally go to Starbucks. Depending on my mood, I'll get either an Iced Grande Americano (three shots of espresso over ice with water added) or a Triple Grande Organic Dry Cappucino, which sounds fancier than it is, as it's just 3 shots of espresso with organic foamed milk.

like 20 shots a day on top of soda and ritalin. I'm amazed her heart didn't explode. She was pretty much a psychotic mess though. The rest of us there would do a few shots on shift, but nothing insane.

And I love going to Marshall's, buy some coffee from some faroff place, and think it's authentic,
even if it's not. Now I'm not only into the price, but the quantity. Marshall's might cost $6.99, but it's a full pound. And the packages are purty.

31. I grind mine, even if it's pre-ground cheap stuff.

I find EVERY coffee is better if ground down to
the finest espresso consistency before it goes
in the machine.
And maybe it's just me, but it seems like adding
sugar to the ground beans brings out more coffee flavor,
and takes less sugar to sweeten than adding it
after the fact.
