Update on Smokey (our bunny)

Thanks for those who gave best wishes and sympathies at what we believed to be his last day.

As he lay in the corner of the cage not moving I put a towel over him to give him some peace as he went to sleep. We expected to get up in the morning and find him gone.

When we awoke what did we find?

He was sitting there eating.

I just don't get it. I'm very pleased he's OK. I'm just confounded by the fact that he is. For all intents and purposes Paul and I were sure he was not going to last the night.

Just flummoxed.

6. Does he get all the proper care, including the ability to (I hate to write

this) eat his own poop?

I had bunny drama a while back. Turns out the little guy had a serious deficiency because they need to be able to ingest their own poop. Go figure. The wire bottom cages don't allow for that.

Had I read all that and so much more before he'd gotten sick, (he was the school bunny) he wouldn't have suffered and would have lived a lot longer.

8. Go smokey, go smokey... I once found my canary stiff at the bottom

of tha cage with his feet straight in the air. Eyes closed, he was dead. Still, I called the vet who told me to put some whiskey in a dropper and stick it in his mouth. I did it, thing popped back to life and lived two more years. Crazy stuff happens.
