How the heck do you reverse a drill?

I have a big drill that has a little button, but the batteries on that are dead. My little drill says on the box that it can be reversed... but I can't find the directions, and I see no little lever. Any ideas?

3. I'm not even a fake lesbian...

but my drill (low end Black and Decker) has a black button northeast of the trigger. You push it in from one side and the drill goes one way and you push it in from the other side and the drill goes the other way.

every screw gun I've used has had a black button that can be pushed in from either side of it. If you push it in from one side, it goes forward and if you push it from the other side, it goes in reverse.
