Jealous of something I should not have,

a star just out of reach.
I see it sparkle far away
my conscious tries to teach -
"You, my lady young and lithe,
conflicted, twisted, jilted mind.
See you not the star beneath?
Reach for that, I do bequeath."

Reaching then, but stumbling still,
a tear falls from my cheek.
My teeth are clenched, my fists are sore
from inhibitions weak.
So many stars have passed me by,
but fear prevents the feel.
Perhaps one day, I will reach down
that star my heart will heal.
