Terry Gilliam's, Brazil (1985)- all too real today

I had not watched this movie in about 10 years, but I did again just the other day. It struck me that the fantasy is not that far from reality today:

1. A country/government warped by a war on terrorism
2. A government/society that thinks anything that goes against the system is terrorism
3. A country so media saturated that reality itself is warped
4. Humans are turned into self-obsessed narcissists
5. Economy and environment destroyed by said system
6. Human emotions and relationships completely removed from the real world...

3. Just saw it for the first time the other day.

It's one of Call Me Wesley's favorite films and he virtually forced me to watch it. I'm glad I did. "Brazil" is particularly disturbing in light of what has become of our country and our culture in the past few years. :(

10. The ending

I read that the us distributors wanted the ending changed. They didn't want the sensibilities of the amerikan audiences offended. Terry Gilliam wouldn't oblige.
