Computer help needed
Edited on Sun Sep-17-06 01:57 PM by Betsy Ross
Whenever my cat walks across my keyboard he changes my Internet Explorer settings causing a new window to open for every page. I haven't figured out how to undo his changes; I have to reboot my computer to return it to its previous state.

What is my cat doing and how can I fix it? On edit: Fix the computer. The cat was fixed years ago.

1. I would bet he is engaging Sticky Keys
Accessibility feature.

What then happens is the shift key is seen as down.

Any time you hold down the shift key and click ona link it will open in new window.

So, you need to go into control panel and select accesibility. If there is a check mark by sticky keys, then uncheck it.

2. Teach your cat to stay off your keyboard -- BETTER YET ---
Teach your cat to stay off your table and counters! It's not hard to do, as long as the cat has some place off the floor he / she is allowed to go. My cat never gets on my computer table, my dining table, or my kitchen counters. But he owns the back of the couch and one chair and one windowsill : )

He also has one old chair he is allowed to prick his claws on and there is nary a mark on my just-bought-new-6 years ago loveseat.

Cats are smart and like their dignity. They can easily be taught there are boundaries, like any dog, child or human.
