Howdy from Austin, Texas.
I am here to say goodbye to Ann Richards, Austin is a sad place today.

I brought my laptop in hopes of finding a Wi-Fi area and I did.

Staying over until Monday then back to Houston.

I am a sad Texan today.

5. Thanks Taverner.
Ann started off as our Ann but became the world's Ann.

She was so smart, funny, and a great Texan.

I am going to drink a Shiner Beer her honor, I think she like that.

4. Thanks for the hugs auntAgonist and billyshank.
Austin is always so upbeat but this weekend it is just a very somber place to be.

I knew Ann, she was Texas.

6. Howdy from another part of Austin.
I only met Ann a couple of times, and never in a situation where she would remember me. I knew others who knew her well, and are heartbroken. One of my friends considered her a personal hero because of her battles with alcoholism, and her willingness to discuss them. He saw her speak often about the subject, and has been very upset by her passing. I think it's important for people to know that she was so much more than a funny woman and a great Democrat. She inspired people in all aspects of her life. She was a beautiful person far beyond her role in politics.
