3. is this deja vu, or has your provocative style in this event
-- writing "when chunks of . . ." instead of "when he asphyxiated the contents of his stomach" or even "when he choked on his own vomit" (not much less disgusting but less rude) -- been discussed before?

It's necessary to use the wording you chose? How about a little respect?

nope. ain't gonna conform for you this morning.

don't like it? ignore me, block it, deal with it.

your issue, not mine.

there are tremendous ASSLOADS of things worthy of condemnation.

i don't have the time, prescience, or all encompassing psychic knowledge of what can potentially offend every POSSIBLE person on god's green earth.

i get offended by shit on a daily basis, but you know what, i REALIZE that i have no right to NOT be offended. that is my issue. i don't go chasing people around telling them what they can and cannot do, what they can or cannot write.

if you want to create an atmosphere of a monolithic lounge sentiment that villifies me for my behavior, get me banned, take it to the mods, take it to skinner. is this you and your monolithic lounge gang's board?

5. Datasuspect. I don't want a flame war/didn't intend to start a flame war.

All I did was object to your use of ugly language in re a tragic death.

I said nothing about conformation.

You're right. My issue. I agree - I don't have a right not to be offended. I do, however, have the right to make my opinion known when I am offended. So do you, as you've made known here. Good on ya.

I didn't ask you NOT to write anything. "Chasing?"

I didn't vilify you.

I don't expect you to be psychic.

You, too, can choose whether or not to be offended.

I'm not interested in getting you banned. For what would I go to Skinner?

"My monolithic lounge gang?" This is the only thing you've written that I don't understand. I don't have a gang. I don't sarcastically apologize for having posted about cats. I may be a one-hit wonder, but you can ignore me, too.

I apologize for causing you offense.

edit: not so much a one-hit wonder. last 19 thread i've started - 5 are cat related

6. i understand
there is an often matronly sentiment present here, and i realize that i perhaps write offensive things. maybe i need to find another place to post. i've thought about that. perhaps.

however, i have noticed that there are others like me here. and the world would be a boring place if we only had kitten threads, glurgefests, and "twentysomethingish" cause of the day mutual admiration threads.

i could moderate the tenor of my posts (and believe me, around here, i put on a tremendous self-censor) but if everyone else can be who they are, why not me?

and i don't get too much into deifying human emotions and sometimes i just like to be contrary just to be contrary.

don't know what i am trying to say.

i personally have no problem with anyone here, have no problem with you, i don't ignore anyone, have no desire for anyone to be any other way than what they are. it's what makes life interesting.

words like "choke," "vomit," "tuna," or "sandwich" are in no means offensive to me.

i didn't jump on it and giggle with glee that the man died, in fact, i worship the man and his work.

i like to joke around, my sense of humor IS, however, very dark, sick, and often offensive. but i am in good company in that respect.

11. i understand too

and I've been thinking about this exchange of ours, even in yoga class, where I couldn't concentrate because I didn't feel right.

I will confess that mine was a kneejerk reaction, as my mother died exactly as Jimi did, in 74, including the OD and everything.

I also confess that I have a thin skin. This doesn't help when I read dark posts. I can usually let my reaction go pretty quickly, but as the anniversary of her death approaches I get weaker. I am a very emotional person and can't control myself sometimes.

Thanks for pointing out how boring this place would be if there were only kitten threads and hug threads and "keep me in your thoughts" threads. (Glurgefest? Great word - what is it?)

"if everyone else can be who they are, why not me?" You are absolutely right, and I apologize again.

If you find another place to post, I hope you stay here too. How boring it would be without you. :)
