got my parrot back!!

but kaya is back home. on the third day in the tree tops, the sight of mom standing on the ground, munching as loudly as she could on an apple was just too tempting. it took a little swooping around for her to find a nice low spot to land, a fence, where she could just step up onto my hand.

Fantastic! I am so happy for you, I know that was a traumatic few days. I've almost lost my cockatiel a few times, in the fall sometimes when I am wearing a sweater or jacket he will land on my shoulder and I won't feel him and I've walked outside a few times with him, luckily for me he's terrified of being outside and he's flown right back in as soon as it happened, back onto the screen porch I mean. I'm so happy you got him back.

5. this is the second time my hubby has let a bird out.

the last one was just like your story. a little lovie that landed on his shoulder as he was going down in the basement- outside stairs- and he just didn't notice him until he took off. never got that one back, tho.
kaya's fear kept her from wandering very far. she stayed within a block of home the whole time. phew.

i will be ecstatic. getting up at the crack of dawn, and riding a bike all day are not quite my usual routine.

she just had molted out, and i hadn't gotten around to clipping them again.

I live with an African Grey but if he escaped we'd probably never see him again.

16. A guy I know had an escapee Gray.

He found her a few days later in the top of a tree over on campus entertaining a big bunch of college kids with her full repertoire.

She lived with us for a while when he moved cross country, and she was one of the smartest FUNNIEST birds I have ever known. She'd sit on top of her cage and call the cats "Heeeeere Kitty Kitty..." The stupid cats would come running. Then she'd lean out off her cage and try to bite them... She'd been raised with cats and really didn't think too much of them.

She was one bird that I held in very high esteem.

21. kaya is kinda boring for a grey

talks a little, but not that much. on the other hand, she does not scream, either. just likes to hang with me, bite holes in my clothes, and try to find things that annoy me so that i will scratch and cuddle with her instead. v ccccnjj;'p\\\\\\\\\ did i say walking on the keyboard?
she was sure acrobatic this morning, tho. she was hanging upside down and dancing around, trying to get her nerve up to let go.
thank ja she whistles, tho. that is how i kept track of her. riding my bike around whistling for her, i went through 3 bottles of water. she is hard to pick out in the trees. i would never have found her without the whistles.
my other bird, a black capped lory is a clown. whistles, does sound effects, hollers, gets into anything and everything. very funny birds, but very messy.
