And another thing...WTF is the deal with Fruit Flies? Why now?
I keep a very clean house. My kids and I eat LOTS of fruit. I can hardly keep it stocked..they go through it that fast.

WTF is with the fruit flies? I am up on the third floor now..way away from the kitchen...and a fruit fly just flew by.

Is my grocery store infested? Is it the time of year? They are harmless...but when they land in my OJ..it grosses me out.

1. They lay eggs in the fruit
really has not a whole lot to do with how clean you keep things. They only live a couple days if they have nothing to feed on. You can also build little traps for them with paper funnels and a bottle or glass partly filled with juice or vinegar.

3. We moved all fruit except bananas into the fridge.
But perhaps the flies are congregating around the garbage disposal with all the canteloupe trimmings?

5. put a saucer on your counter with ...
....some vinegar, sugar, and water in it, and a drop of dish liquid detergent. They'll come and drown there.

11. I also suddenly have an infestation, and I never have them
however, I do have a crabapple tree dropping tons of fruit all over the patio.

It does have something to do with the time of year. Haven't seen them all summer.
