29 "godless" bumper stickers
They aren't mine, I didn't write 'em, and I think a couple are a bit harsh, but they're all pretty damned funny, imho!

-----

Beware of dogma.

God is just pretend.

Recovering catholic.

Nothing fails like prayer.

The christian right is neither.

I believe in life before death.

Religion is myth-information.

Religion stops a thinking mind.

My karma ran over your dogma.

So many christians, so few lions.

Blasphemy is a victimless crime.

One nation under god = theocracy.

God, protect us from your followers.

There is no sin greater than ignorance.

Come the rapture, can I have your car?

Fundamentalism stops a thinking mind.

Doing my part to piss off the religious right.

Religions are just cults with more members.

Your kids and my taxes go to St. Pedophiles.

He's your god. They're your rules. You burn in hell.

At first they burn books. Eventually they burn people.

I've got nothing against god. It's his fan club I can't stand.

Fundamentalism means never having to open your mind.

When religion ruled the world they called it the dark ages.

Believe those who seek the truth. Doubt those who find it.

Guilt, fear and mass insanity. Three cheers for christianity.

You found god? If nobody claims him in 30 days, he's your's.

To err is human. To really screw things up you need religion.

The only problem with baptists is they don't hold them under long enough.

Edited on Tue Sep-19-06 04:53 PM by Atman
Hard core. They do nothing without it having something to do with Jesus. Nothing. Even the pictures in their house all have bible verses on them. Standing at the john, you're reading John in needlepoint on the wall. It is bizarro world over there! But I wouldn't go so far as to drown any of them...besides, they already live 1,300 miles away.

There are some very progressive Baptists out there, although I do know who you are referring to because there is also an extremely vocal group of far-right Baptists as well.

10. I love that bumper sticker so much
Need to get it at some point. (The back window is gonna get crowded.)

I think a lot of those are very funny, but a few are needlessly antagonistic. Still, I didn't go to Catholic school or grow up amongst "thumpers," so I don't have excessive amounts of anger towards them; certainly can't blame folks who were damaged by faux-Christianity (or any other brainwashing) along the way.

I really like the ones that point out that the U.S. is not a theocracy, let alone a "Christian" country.

Edited on Tue Sep-19-06 05:21 PM by OPERATIONMINDCRIME
The ones that were geared towards harmful extremism are ok in my opinion, but the ones showing intolerance and bigotry towards religion itself are in my opinion displayed by people every single bit as misguided and ignorant as the ones who still display W'04 stickers.

45. I've Yet To Ever See A Thread Of Anti-Atheist Bumper Stickers... Ever...
The only thing I'm intolerant about with atheists is when they think they are actually better than somebody else, engage in outright mockery or try to claim that their way is the only way and to think otherwise simply makes you stupid. Those are the jackasses. But that can apply to religious types as well.

But regardless, my statement is still sound and accurate about the generic religious slams being every bit as bad and misguided as a W'04 bumpersticker, in spite of the fact that the argument can go the other way. But like I've said, I've yet to see a thread filled with hateful atheist bumper stickers.

50. With All Due Respect,
I didn't show any intolerance towards what some consider to be a nonsense fairy tale of big bang theory.

Furthermore, to declare that your moral, ethical or decency standards are determined by those of others, and if they don't practice certain ways than you won't, is pretty pathetic in my opinion.

For example, just because some morons would show ignorant intolerance by displaying some of those generic bumperstickers above, doesn't mean I then would resort to ignorant intolerance myself. Way I see it, the values of tolerance I hold towards others are mine and part of my nature, not something I shift from based on discussion to discussion based on others displays of the concept.

Therefore, if you choose to want to show intolerance towards others who hold different views than you do , well you have that right in spite of me finding it to be a hateful, bigoted and ignorant practice. But I'm going to be tolerant towards your or others beliefs anyway, regardless, because that's simply my way. I don't need a deal to practice what I simply consider to be right. So do we have a deal? No. If your tolerance is rooted in temporary compromises as opposed to core values than I'd rather you not pretend to be tolerant at all.

19. About 5 years ago,
for Christmas, a group of us from an online board had a Secret Santa, where we each drew a name and gave that one person a gift. The person who got me sent me a couple of great things, including a sticker that I misinterpreted the first couple of times I read it. I thought it was an invocation of "god" which I didn't believe in, but then after reading it, it finally made sense: "god, protect me from your followers."

I now have it proudly decorating my bumper sticker along with some political ones.

51. what a horrible mindset to say you LIKE that one
Offensive words below - polite warning.

I'm not backing down, this is sickening by some of you. I feel like I'm being harassed at school for being a "faggot" again! So advocating the deaths of Christians is comical to you? I've seen one of these stickers before, I find it very sad to be so vitriolic about a certain faith or non-belief. So when the right wing fundies start putting bumper stickers on their cars that mock our lives as worthy of death, is that okay? Coulter wants to kill off the Muslims and millions of people have heard her "satire" on TV like Chris Matthews and had that anti-Muslim belief stoked by her "they need stopped" hysteria. Oh, and she called Al Gore a "FAG!" on Hardball too, not too far from joking we should be killed, too, OHHHH, but with satire of course.

So, when a redneck has one that says "so many fags, too few fenceposts" there's nothing wrong with that?

or a racist boasts one in Ocala FL or Biloxi MS that says, "so many niggers, not enough rope" and laughs with all of his friends, that's okay, too, because you want to laugh about all the Christians who were thrown to the lions for espousing peace, mercy and self sacrifice? Nice.

Real liberal.
